Pretty annoying because if BKP and Lundgren etc could just make open blade pickups up to 10" long (or longer for 9 strings wirh wide fans), a lot of multiscale guitars out there could be made with much better bridge pickup placement.

I had your exact same problem on an Agile 72730 that also requires a 5" Lace X Bar to cover all strings at the ideal angle (which required extra routing due to the stock pickup angle being way off from the bridge on the lowest strings as usual).
I emailed all the...
D'Addario NYXL Bass strings are identical to NYXL guitar strings but have a bass ball end. A D'Addario rep confirmed this via email a few years ago when i asked them. Try those...i use their .085 and .095 NYXL bass strings and they work very well.
Hi all
Can a Humbucker be wired to send humbucking to one output jack and either coil to another output jack simultaneously?
I'd like to be able to select between humbucking and single coil using a foot controller and either a switcher or Axe Fx using two inputs.
I already select bridge and...
If you want bass string spacing and only 4 or 5 strings, then all you need to do is set up a 28" short scale bass with lighter guitar strings, and a guitar pickup, or set up a 28" scale baritone guitar with a new bass bridge and nut to convert it to bass string spacing for 4 or 5 strings.
If...
ahahaha...if only Kurt could get those angles right. Here's an early Agile 72730 where the stock angle of the bridge pickup is much better, but the pickup is too short so both the lowest and highest string only get covered by one rail:
hence why all the non custom multiscale guitars end up...
Here it is. .it looks very raw but works perfectly. The additional routing was for some experimentation with making the heavily hacked and chopped individual string Roland pickups work with the fan. I'll probably cover up those exposed bits at some point.
You can clearly see the original...
Exactly right. On the Agile 72730 i picked up recently, i had to route a 5" 10 string Lace X Bar as that was the only non custom pickup available that was long enough to work at the angle i wanted, vs the crappy stock angle of the stock pickup. A 10 string pickup for a 7 string guitar...but...
This is a 9 string with a 24"-30" fan, using curved frets.
Pretty extreme...and apart from how playable or unplayable you might find such a big fan, the issue that gets overlooked all the time is the placement of the bridge pickup. Even with an angled pickup, you end up with a pickup route...
Could we hear a clip of your current tone? What brand .095 string are you using? D'Addario NYXL bass strings are identical in tone to the guitar NYXL, so if you like the feel and tension of the .095 that would be a good option, but if your Strandberg has a 28" scale, i think as others are...
@TLaw97 apart from the usual 30" scale baritones mentioned above, how about modding a medium scale bass (32") into a 6 string guitar with guitar string spacing? Or go full Admiral Angry and mod a 34" bass. You would just need a new bridge and nut, route the extra tuners, and route a sweet spot...
Yeah i've had several scammers message me here too last year saying they know someone with an email address who has the guitar i'm looking for. I report them instantly and they vanish. It was for an Agile 72730. The first time i replied and asked for pics i just got sent the stock pics from the...
I reckon it all depends on how you want to set up the instrument.
If you want to still be able to use it for djenty, twangy guitar sounds, then thinner strings with a djenty bridge humbucker or single coil for tic tact stuff would be the ticket.
If you want it to feel more like bass tension...
Ok got it. That's probably quite a cool thing though in that the strings are still being picked up from the same parts of the pickup in split mode (vs either coil in other pickup brands), but with (i'm guessing) more attack.
@lewis do you know if the X Bar can be split for either inner or outer coils, or is it only one available split sound? I'm wiring a switch for a BKP that selects between humbucking, inner or outer coils but not sure if it can be done with the X Bar.
