Hey guys, I'm getting rid of my Mesa and I got a couple trade offers for it - a VOX AC30 (CC2) and a Marshall 30th Anniversary 6100LM. Both seem like great amps - anyone have an opinion on which you would prefer?

My only hesitation about getting the Hiwatt is achieving gain at levels that won't make me deaf or get the cops called. Plus, he's asking for a lot on top of the Mesa - $300 or so - and it's been modified and whatnot.

Do you mean the life of the tubes, or the amp itself? The amp should last forever as long as you take care of it :D Tubes generally need to be replaced every couple of years.

Personally, I love the MXR Smart Gate. I own an ISP Decimator as well, and to my ears it outperforms it.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Funny thing is though, I've tried selling the Mesa for about 2 months now as a JCM 800 popped up in a shop for a good price. I've even priced it ridiculously low and it won't sell, so I'm not sure what to do at this point :scratch:
