The difference Mastering makes (Nevermore/Ozone content)

The mix to begin with looks to be pegged at -.02 Dosent leave much room for mastering in terms of headroom. Both mixes sound over limited and humped to submission imo. More volume maybe louder but usually sacrifices dynamic content.

Peavey 6505+ & attenuator recording problems

perhaps try a diff impulse and or IR reader....perhaps theres an error in that part of the chain? (doubt it, but worth a min to check) Also from what i understand the 6505 sounds can get pretty raspy past a certain point, so maybe dont push the amp into oblivion as well.

Recording live piano for the first time soon, any tips?

I have extensive exp doing this. I usually place a spaced pair of condensers about 5-8in above the hammers. If you want some room tone you can blend in a third mic thats about a foot away and pointing down at the strings. What kina piano? like a baby grand? If its an upright the answer will...

    Heya

Dont like that midrangey kick huh? Most ppl have the boost from from 6k up through to 12k. I put mine at 2.2. More of a "knock" than a "smack". Im actually diggin it, its different. And i wonder what constitutes a "studio metal recording" ? Is there a standard volume one must meet? Does it...

    Adam A7X a worthy upgrade?

Ive used these as a demo from a vendor. Theyre cool, but can fatigue your ear from the upper mids after 2-3 hrs of mixtime i noticed. I went with the Focal's instead.

My New Mix - Think I've had a breakthrough [Death Metal, Djent, Axe2, Superior]

This is cool and all... for sure good job in writing. Id like to say that if you blast balls deep into a compressor (be it on the mix bus or or the drum bus) with a mega fast release time, you get a super pumping effect. Theres nothing wrong with that if you follow said compressor (higher...

    Home Recording for complete noob!

Ok so youre using laptop speakers then i assume. Go google up something like some KRK rokit 5in or 8in speakers, and simply hook then up to the Left and Right outputs of your Toneport. Boom Stereo. If youu have the toneport then i assume you have the Line 6 plugs...those (with a bit of nudging...

    My 'Progressive' Compositions. Need Opinions!

I just listened to the first one. But i can tell that with the way youre attacking your guitar with your right hand has alot to do with your "crap tone" Ever heard people say you can put the same guitar in 5 different peoples hands, and somehow hear 5 different guitars? Listen...at any rate...

    My 'Progressive' Compositions. Need Opinions!

I can see what you're intending to get across. The playing seems to fall flat on my ears though. Needs some fire behind it. More fire/bawls. Play the fucker like you mean it. Having said that i do like the riffs. I just think you need to beat your axe a lil harder.

    Home Recording for complete noob!

I own a toneport DI box (silver model) and it does have stereo outputs. So you shouldnt be stuck in mono at all. Frankly if you arent interested in recording vocals theres no reason that little interface wont do the trick just fine. That being said, i went and bought a Lexicon Lambda for my...

    Heya

@Bugrasis . Thanks Bruh...i listened to your stuff by the way, i think its fine and well, but maybe try a bus compressor across the 2 bus to glue your elements together. Seemed like the mix needed to pump a bit. Cool DT type parts though even if they are a bit rudimentary.
