I usually put my effects chain on the track that I recorded the DI on. I render it to a WAV file and then work with it. It may be boring to listen to dry guitar tracks while recording but it forces you to be a lot cleaner. And when you finally put that power behind it, it sounds so much better...
This may be a dumb question... In my signal chain, should I have SSD > EQ (150 Hz Boost)? I have all of the drums on one track. Should I separate them and EQ the kick drum on its own? And thanks for the info. I'll check those out (:
Glad you enjoy it! I didn't think it would really catch on for anyone! Here's another version. I pushed the guitars a little more and it's more focused on the bottom end. The guitars don't sound as weak imo... I'm still fairly new to this mixing thing.. Haha...
