2017 was the switch from #213 to 47104.
They should not be chambered. I assume they just use better selected wood. Newer Gibson Historics are lighter too compared to the same guitars in the early 2000s, in my experience.
Used Navigators are all over the map because the different eras and...
Yeah, I do not like the VOS finish. It can look ok in pictures, but in person it looks very underwhelming particularly for how expensive these can be. And it feels sticky.
Short answer is both are very nice. Newer Navigators are flawless; and I've been consistently impressed with fretwork on Gibson Custom guitars.
Older Navigators are built more like a Gibson (more crude neck tenon and fret end binding etc) and IME have larger necks and are quite heavier. These...
I'm not sure he ever played the green one live? When I saw them play, I think he played the whole night with a black Stealth. But I do remember seeing pictures of this green one and loving it.
That stinks, sorry man.
How many people did this get by? The guy that installed it, of course. Presumably there's a QC guy at FMIC that would be separate? And the dealer hopefully would look it over before accepting it from FMIC and shipping it to a customer?
I've owned a Trad and have looked over some of the new 50s at GC, and I think the Trads had taller frets. New Gibson frets seem very low to me. But I've not measured.
50s I think have thinner neck binding, which imho does look a bit cooler. Otherwise, I think they're the same thing.
These were done by an assortment of people (Aperio, Glaser, Fat Cat Custom Guitars). All we're done well with stainless wire. It is difficult to find a competent luthier to do it without messing up the board etc, but each of these guys did a good job and would recommend them all. Wait times...
I finally broken down and had some LPs refretted with jumbo wire, and I really wish I'd done it sooner. An LP with huge frets really seems to have been exactly what I was wanting. Has that LP sound and look but the playability of a more shredder-type guitar.
