Fattest, crunchiest neck PU for a 7

The 60's actually a VERY bassy and smooth, clean style pickup. It's very unique in that. From what I've read, it seems like SD tried to make EMGs "more metal" with the Blackouts, which sounds pretty dumb to me

You guys have just improved my tone

At that kind of thickness the low B loses all semblance of attack and definition (i.e. sounds blunt) for me. But hey, different tastes :)

Fattest, crunchiest neck PU for a 7

Thanks all... I've actually decided to get an EMG set with the 60 7. Based on past 6 string experiences, I've realized that's the only thing I'll ever be completely happy with, even if I have to take a router to the damn thing :wallbash:

Fattest, crunchiest neck PU for a 7

I need a FAT sounding neck PU. By fat, I mean Gibson PAF neck fat. I play strictly leads on the neck PU, and don't use a ton of gain, so note seperation is not an issue. Nice cleans are welcome, but I rarely use full humbucking mode on cleans so bear that in mind. I tried an Air Norton...

    Hellraiser VS. 1527

The Schecter is by no means a bad guitar, but it's the Ibanez any day of the week for me. I just love the ease of playing on that guitar.

High e getting stuck under neck pup on uv

I've heard the trick is to pull the trem UP just a little after dumping it really low. I never really pull crazy trem stunts however. That's probably why I never experienced this particularly inconvenient situation

High e getting stuck under neck pup on uv

Hehe  It seems to me that neck pickup might be just a little too high.

    Problem with 7th string

No, you might need a new nut. Try graphtech. :yesway:

7 strings Vs. 6 strings tonality

I actually think the chunky neck makes a difference. Maybe a little less attack, but warmer like the poster above said. (Compared with a 6 string Wizard that is). The pickups are also quite different. A ceramic pickup in the neck??? DiMarzio pulled them off quite well though IMO. The Air Norton...

    First seven! ibanez 7321

I think there is a diagram in the Ibanez site somewhere. Basically: 1) Bridge pickup in series 2) Both pickups split (neck facing coils) 3) Both pickups in series 4) Neck pickup in parallel 5) Neck pickup in series This is a truly great feature. 2nd and 4th positions are uber-useful on...

Check out this 31 fret Ibanez

I thought the reverb and delay were actually created by the slop, not an effects unit :shred: On a side note, Petrucci plays live with a fuckton of both and you hear evvvery single note oh so well... So it's doable!
