i personally am a fan of high gain chords, but do not own on an axe fx like alot of the people here. How should i eq my guitar tracks if i want to get clearer, more articulate chords?

what is the bass tone you guys are usually chasing? I go both usually, i dont really like my bass to be to up front in the mix, alot of compression a little bit of EQ does it for me. but what about you guys? how do you guys like to record and mix your bass and all that good stuff.

well i use protools, so VST's are out of the question. I need RTAS files :/

the axe fx is way to expensive, no matter how bad i want it, i can't spend that kind of money. i've been told that the pod HD 500, is a good alternative, but idk i'd like your oppinions. im tired of recording direct out of my line 6 spider 2 half stack.
