Iirc Tom Anderson had some business in Japan (for ESP I presume) which ended up in some improvements for the Schecter Japan models (super rock II pickups are his design apparently, though they dont sound as good as MKIs). Not sure if former TA employees are working there tho, wouldn't say it's...
I can agree their guitars are good quality wise (though quality control can be meh at times), they just don't help themselves filling their models with aesthetic appointments people do not like, that just rise the price beyond point people are not willing to spend.
