Thoughts on graph tech bridges and nuts?

Thanks a lot y'all! I just got paid, so I think I'm going to pull a trigger on a set or two of these.

Thoughts on graph tech bridges and nuts?

Thanks a ton for all the replies! I'm still considering both graph tech nuts and bridges, but at least the nuts. Any recommendations for tune-o-matic style bridges that genuinely reduce string breakage, but also have a nice tone?

Thoughts on graph tech bridges and nuts?

I've already sanded down the saddles on both of these guitars and I use some graphite from a pencil each time I change my strings. It seems to help slightly and on the xaviere it seems to help more than the gibson, but either way, I'm also looking to upgrade both the bridges and nuts on these...

Thoughts on graph tech bridges and nuts?

Thanks guys! A few more opinions would be great since I have one for and one kind of against right now.

Thoughts on graph tech bridges and nuts?

I break strings too often and have tried a few different routes, but haven't had any signifcant improvement. I'm also looking to upgrade my bridges and nuts for at least two of my guitars since they both have stock bridges/nuts(one Gibson, one xaviere). Looking for both longer string life and...

Boss Hm 2 Swedish Death Metal Style

Oh really? Do they sound the same? I've never heard that before. DOD pedals intrigue me. I've owned a few and currently own a graphic eq. Some of them are really cool and some of them seem kind of useless.

    Massachusetts Metalcore: How'd it Happen?

Musically, I'd say without a doubt yes. That's definitely the biggest influence on that sound. But as far as the idea of a scene goes, I still think that all the credit goes to the foundation that hardcore layed.

Recommend me Deathgrind/Death Metal/Brutal or Slam Death Metal

Also: and Okay, I think I'm done. Sorry for blowing up your thread! I just love stuff like this.

Recommend me Deathgrind/Death Metal/Brutal or Slam Death Metal

Although these two bands are mostly considered hardcore bands, their death metal and grind influences are obvious.

Recommend me Deathgrind/Death Metal/Brutal or Slam Death Metal

Easily my favorite deathgrind band and just one of my favorite bands.

    Massachusetts Metalcore: How'd it Happen?

I also have to say that the more modern sounding stuff that the OP is asking about without a doubt takes influence from hatebreed. They're from CT, but new england is so condensed that it really doesn't make much of a difference. But it honestly all goes back to hardcore. At least if we're...

    Massachusetts Metalcore: How'd it Happen?

Well Converge started in 1990 and were pioneers of metallic hardcore and "metalcore". That band started 11 years later. I mean, if we're talking history of the "massachusetts" scene, I guess a band from the area who was instrumental in shaping the genre as a whole deserves more mention.

Boss Hm 2 Swedish Death Metal Style

Yeah I feel you there. I mean, that tone is already pretty extreme, but the hm300 is a little thin. I just kick in some extra lows from my amp and I'm usually satisfied though.

Boss Hm 2 Swedish Death Metal Style

I picked up the behringer hm300 a few months ago, which is a clone of the hm-2. I think it only ran me like $25. It's so fun to jam with. I love the buzz saw tone in the right situations.

    Massachusetts Metalcore: How'd it Happen?

Scott Lee? I've played a few of his shows at the waterfront in holyoke. He puts on some decent shows(most of them are just C grade tour packages with a bunch of local support), but I don't think he'd be doing it if the money wasn't there. That being said, he seems like an honest enough guy. I've...

    Massachusetts Metalcore: How'd it Happen?

Hell yeah. The other guitarist in my band works for bridge 9. I definitely think massachusetts and hardcore go hand in hand, but it's just something that stays pretty underground. Hardcore bands will never be as popular as "metalcore" bands like killswitch engage and stuff like that.

    Massachusetts Metalcore: How'd it Happen?

Haha I wanted to sooo bad, but I couldn't find a way to tie them in to what I wanted to say. They're one of my favorite bands and they're so influential, but their spin on metallic hardcore is very unique and they were also a decade old as a band when they put out their(in most people's eyes)...

    Massachusetts Metalcore: How'd it Happen?

I don't think the original punk "movement" had much to do with it. Punk like the ramones and sex pistols, as much as they're very well liked, kind of failed to make punk rock an intimate, accessible thing, which in turn would create a very large scene. The emergence of hardcore punk is really...

    Females and Metal

That wasn't strictly directed at you by any means and I know you didn't say "all", but a lot of the talk in this thread is definitely hinting at saying that MOST of it is gimmicky or even saying that women in heavy music have no other choice than to exploit the fact that they're women. I guess I...

    Females and Metal

So many "bands" use image or a gimmick to sell records or gain noteriety(which blows) and it's honestly kind of easy to do that with metal, so recruiting a female member is just a very easy way to do that. But claiming that all heavy bands with female members are just using her as a gimmick is...
