First question... what's your budget? Right off the bat, I would STRONGLY recommend at least a 35" scale bass for the drop tunings you want to use. The SR505 is 34" and at Drop G, the strings will be an absolute floppy mess.

^^ I totally agree. My 4 Mesa cabinets are absolutely awesome and I'd only ever use 15's paired with 10's

I always prefer 10's if I had to choose between them and 15's That should get rid of the farting, but definitely check it out first if you can. (preferably with your own head, bass, etc.)

The big brother to the regular Vintage Microtubes is here and damn does it sounds good. I ran through a bunch of my favorite settings. It's hard to decide which one I prefer... they sound amazing and different enough to justify both. Hope you enjoy :)

I prefer to run it into the front of my amp (Mesa Carbine M9) but that will vary greatly depending on your amp. If you run it directly into the effects return, you're essentially bypassing the entire preamp section and sending your signal directly to the power amp. I like the additional warmth...

In the OP's photo, the level is maxed.... are you running directly into a power amp or the front of something else? I tend to leave the blend around noon and gain fairly high. The EQ really changes a lot depending on what I'm pairing the pedal with. I run through a bunch of my favorite...

David Rainger's long awaited bass version of his regular DrFF-3 Freakenstein fuzz does NOT disappoint! This thing is a BEAST. I highly recommend it for adding monstrous-oscillating-chaotic-awesomeness :hbang:

Darkglass ain't no joke - their stuff is seriously awesome.

I sure have, I much prefer it over the sansamp. The character of the distortion is crunchier and much more to my liking AND it has midrange control.

Darkglass B3K or B7K is amazing for both studio and a live band setting. Here's a quick but good little demo with Alex Webster. :hbang: This should fit the bill exactly based on what you described ;)
