I use a Randall RG100SC and love it. Although the model probably isn't practical for your purposes (2x12", all-in-one), the sound is great. I love solid state for metal and Randall produces some killer tones. So, another thumbs up for Randall here.

Update: if it's the 1-2-3 frets, it seems it's called a G Augmented or G+6 chord. And if it's 1-2-4 we'd have a G#m, G# Minor, B6/G#, or B/G# 6th. (based on some online sites, not my own knowledge). Man I have a lot to learn about chords...sigh. Can anyone with experience/knowledge confirm this...
