Jackson SL7HT big string woes! (string won't fit into tuner, etc)

Haha, you guys are awesome. Thank you for all the replies! Looks like e-mailing Hipshot and a new nut are both in my future... my tech can probably handle the rest. I've grown so attached to the way it plays now though... I'm tempted to keep it in Drop A with this 58 on the bottom and 9-42...

Jackson SL7HT big string woes! (string won't fit into tuner, etc)

I see... So y'all are saying I'd even have to unwind a bit of the string or drill a hole, even for these brand new Hipshot tuners?...

Jackson SL7HT big string woes! (string won't fit into tuner, etc)

LONG POST WARNING. Hey there! Recently I came into possession of an Indo-built Jackson Pro series SL7HT and I love it... the wood is amazing, plays great (in stock tuning, B standard mind you) and really has quality wood and good pickups. Here's the kicker... The only reason I bought this...

Looks like the CEO of Tone Vault Pickups is interested in having me record some official demonstration videos for their website! Some pro-shot videos on some outrageous gear, coming as soon as tomorrow!

Replacing an EMG with a passive pickup + recs for vintage Soloist

Here's a pic of my new TVT Rude! humbucker... i wish it was closer up, but it was taken by my recording engineer, who was very, very drunk on red wine at the time.

    The original Quake

I'd say my absolute best childhood memories were playing the Dooms, Quakes, and Half-Lifes. <3 FPS games

Replacing an EMG with a passive pickup + recs for vintage Soloist

Overtone: eBay is your best bet :) I scored some Nylon 6/6 nuts from eBay, something that'd be really hard to find otherwise

Replacing an EMG with a passive pickup + recs for vintage Soloist

You're gonna want Black Cat capacitors if you can get them, good luck finding real enamel coated wire or anything like that, CTS pots are generally good enough. I like 500k for both volume and tone in a humbucker-laden guitar.

Replacing an EMG with a passive pickup + recs for vintage Soloist

It's hard to go wrong with a JB. Bare knuckles are of course always a good choice. I just had a humbucker from Tone Vault Technologies installed and the tone murders anything I've ever tried... both clean and saturated.

STOKED on my new pickup purchase! (tl;dr, juicy info inside)

AFAIK their site is still under construction (hence the "coming soon"), as they are such a new company. I will say that I finally got my SG back, with newly installed Tonepros Bridge, tailpiece, and tuners. And the TVT Rude! installed. I wanted to cry, the difference was so night-and-day...

STOKED on my new pickup purchase! (tl;dr, juicy info inside)

I will ASAP! Just got word that my guitar is finished :) also installed was a tonepros locking bridge, tonepros klusons, tonepros low-weight stop tailpiece... practically the only things untouched were the nut and the neck pickup! (which is gonna be replaced by either a Jangletron or a "The...

STOKED on my new pickup purchase! (tl;dr, juicy info inside)

Disclaimer: I don't work for TVT, they don't pay me to use their shit, etc. etc... I'm just a normal reggae guitarist who is now pretty elated. Finally, I am relieved of GAS! ...for now Vault Guitar Pickups Just bought myself one of these "Rude!" bridge humbuckers... came out to about...

    Best vibrato

Marty Friedman definitely. Malmsteen, even though he's a wanker, has amazing vibrato, and so does Vai. But... Friedman >
