More treble == faster sounding tone
Thicker picks imo tend to reduce your treble to some extent.
You have to find your compromise. Then adjust your amp/patch settings around this.
I found my compromise in the Winspear standard Shiv mini's (1.7 mm's)
Sometimes I love using the 5mm battle axe...
Finished the audio book "Talking to Strangers" by Malcom Gladwell. Good book, but what I enjoyed was the production. Quotes were read in most cases by the original speakers, original pieces of media played etc. Such a fun experience. Looking forward to more such audio books.

There is a brand of dissonant metal that is not discussed or appreciated enough, because it is the bleeding edge of metal. I love bands that make all this effort to make these deep intricate pieces
I played both before switching entirely to 27'' for that right clear ringing tone.

To get myself comfortable with tougher streches,
Classical position always.
Perfect wrist position.
Preferrably thin necks, I have a thick neck and it is hard to play big chords.

Linux - You can pretty much go 99% of the time without touching the command line nowdays. The 1% is if you have weird or specialized hardware. In my case, that is a surface tablet.
SSD performance - Big projects in FL, writing lot of data to disk. Worked fine in 10, had hiccups and slowdowns...
It is a fair bit of work depending on your needs to setup. Then choice of distro, DAW etc. But once it is done, it is worth it. My idle ram usage is around ~2 gb with GNOME, my processor usage has gone down a lot etc. I know most people don't really care for this aspect.
