    "Cordyceps Spores Omega Edition" FL10 SD2MF LE456 GR4 EWQL

Cordyceps Spores Omega Edition version 4 by SeamlessR on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free This is a work in progress. There will be vocals and there's a second guitar part too but it sounds weird without the vocals. So that'll come when the vocals do. This was...

Super Bass Double Keytar Performance Demo

I think a setup like this would actually work out way better for a guitar (at least for metal). It would be easier to tap and hold chords for one. On the bass I have super epic major compression running as well as lower than probably good action setup so that I can tap the bass and have the tone...

Super Bass Double Keytar Performance Demo

A bit ago I posted about my unique bass/keyboard setup with pictures. But now, there's video! This is a short demonstration and explanation of the setup. Enjoy :]

    Orchestral metal mix

With a library like Edirol I would suggest putting them as far "behind" the mix as possible. Lots of reverb and the like to mask their fake sounding-ness. The guitars sound neat, the drums are a little thunky for my taste. The effects you use to garble things are kind of awesome too :]

RE:INANIMATE new song (Testing my new 8string)

The snare is buzzy to a pretty epic degree. Is the "bottom" mic all the way up or something? I notice it's buzzy with the toms too, which is something I guess is a result of the bleed setting. The guitars sound pretty sweet though, on the whole this is pretty badass :]

    My Super Bass Double Keytar

AAh! That was a fun show ;p Palladium screws the local bands over though :< And yeah, the sound guys never know how to balance the keyboards. They generally assume that I'm the lead player and crank it where actually I'm just doing accompaniment and textural stuff with the occasional keyboard...

    My Super Bass Double Keytar

I don't even have a copy of this project anymore. But the gist was backing down most of the highs, not a complete cut. Keeping the "ring" in the high mids where they are, bringing the low mids way down, and leaving the bass where it is. I, as well, didn't have a handle on master bass frequency...

    My Super Bass Double Keytar

The strings were completely new. The tone itself is made using Guitar Rig 4, there's a screamer before the basspro amp and cab, and then it's EQ'd to hell because no matter what, this bass sounds like ass. And then it was multi tracked. panned hard left and right .

[Explained] Why should you use 24bit rather than 16bit depth while recording

Ah, I see how this has confused me, then. With this information I can see that I've never actually recorded in at 16 bit, so observation based on my own experiences are lacking. I've been looking at it from mixing down to file types, which, as you stated, would not rob the benefit of having...

[Explained] Why should you use 24bit rather than 16bit depth while recording

I missed where you qualified the floods. My bad. I'm also not advocating NOT using 24 bit. Just my, singular, view on its usefulness. Now, "superquality" in a recording is an interesting problem. Like, for example, could you tell the difference between a 16bit Superior Drummer sample or a 24...

[Explained] Why should you use 24bit rather than 16bit depth while recording

Hard drive are also more expensive than they used to be now since the flooding in Thailand. Now, I'm not a super pro so I might be completely wrong about this, but I still don't quite see the value in 24 bit, at least in heavy music production. "heavy" in terms of genre, metal, techno stuff...

    This track I'm working on

Version 6 Some other song version 6 by Stephen M O'leary on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free I left version 5 on the page so that you guys can compare them. I changed the guitar tone slightly and messed around with the mix somewhat. Also: an ending! And a...

    Noob recording/mixing question

When I make a tone, I usually run an EQ before the amp sim to change the character of the tone. There are three main components of the EQ I address when I do this. There's the bass frequency, where the main note lives, along with the harmonics that make up the whole note of the string...

    This track I'm working on

It is exactly as you described. It's also referred to as "side chaining". I've also seen "side chaining" as a term apply to things that do not seem to have relation to anything to do with compression, as well. "Ducking" however as I can tell, is only used to mean this particular effect. So...

Presonus Firestudio Project - Popping in recorded tracks

Well, where the two wave forms meet between your punch in and your main track, in whatever DAW you're using there should be a function to move the edges together (there's a term for that, I dont know what it is). That is, move the end of the punch in, and the beginning of the rest of the...

Lamb of God full collaboration cover \m/ Check it out!

The low end is super duper muddy. I like the force of the snare, also somewhat muddy. But I feel like it wouldn't matter once the low end is taken care of. Musically this is so cool it hurts.

    This track I'm working on

There's master bus compression going on, indeed. Most of the instruments are also compressed, and the drums are compressed in their own bus. The bass and kick are Eq'd to fit each other, also the kick is ducking the bass in the compressor, quick release. The snare is ducking a couple tracks...
