I'm really pumped by this one. The third video I linked (which now went private, lol) showed settings with the gain dimed and the bright switch on and it sounded really, really good.
The main problem I see with the IR-X is that the boost is not filtered, so it adds a ton of low end and presence...
I'll join the "no remotely controllable, no thanks" club. I see no use for it live. It's probably fantastic for home use but I'd rather use the bigger pedal.
We've been re-watching the Lord Of the Rings trilogy (the extended versions) as if it was a series. And we're having a blast.
20 years later and they're every bit as good. They have aged really well, and the 4k HDR remasters are just fantastic.
I don't think it's just "butthurt people", but rather people unwilling to put their money into a (expensive) product built on false promises, power supply problems, internet security breaches, and overall dodgy support. Not to mention douche-ish company response on socials about those matters...
It's the Cthonic guy (Jesse Liu) sig, JL-7 "Katana". And yes, it's a great guitar indeed. The neck is a bit on the thick side but it's still comfortable. The regular Arrow has a thinner neck I believe (FYI)
I would exclude from this thread "custom" guitars because honestly the sky is the limit if so. Limited runs less so I guess...
My picks:
EBMM JP7 in Mystic Dream finish:
Ibanez RG7CTS
Parker MaxxFly 7 (speacially the red and emerald green ones)
Special mention because it's so...
Lots of bands used the Screamer and Thunder in the 00s here. The Screamer is as Engl as it gets (basically the same as the famous E530 preamp). If choosing between the two, definetely get the Screamer.
Most Engl circuits are very similar. Their differences in voicings are sometimes included as...
People always say that but I've always thought it is the opposite. Compression can help even things out (specially on legato or tapping runs) but you better be a clean player or all your mistakes will turn into unfathomable noise.
Colony is kinda the "Black Album" of In Flames. A solid album...
My experience on live circles has usually been somewhat like:
- Hard rock dudes: Laid back, cool, they just want to party and drink
- Metalheads: Full of themselves.
There's still a lot of elitism about "technically inferior" genres wether people admit it or not.
IMHO The Blackouts are waaay better at low/mid gain tones than EMG. Backing off the volume makes for great passive-like tones. Problem is nobody buys actives for those sounds.
EMGs in general (specially classic models) are a lot "stiffer" sounding and feeling, which makes them kinda suck for...
F spacing? There are no F-spaced pickups for 7-strings as far as I know. If you mean the soapbar/EMG route? In that case, yes. The Lace is the same size. You would also increase the weight of the guitar, which would help with the balance.
I never liked D-tuna style devices. Dropping from B to A...
I'd get the one that's lighter if moving it around. So stick with the Ironball combo. The others are way heavier and 20W are enough for any situation. You could even slap a neodymium speaker on it and shave off 3kg.
