Volumes - "Edge of the Earth" full instrumental cover + multitracks!

D1SCOVERIES: Sounds killer bro. I really dig the rythm tone. I would want to hear more of the lead guitar though! And the "distant" guitar tracks is basically rythm tracks that are meant to be bypassed really much. (:

I just released a song of my own, give it a listen!

Thanks so much! Thanks! I noticed that people either love the snare or hate it, haha. I personally like my snares that way, but given time, perhaps I realize I might have went a bit overboard. Who knows! Thanks man! Thanks! I myself can't sing at all, and if someone else would want to put...

I just released a song of my own, give it a listen!

I just released a video playthrough of a self-produced song. I worked really hard on this and would really appreciate if you guys would give it a listen! I really tried to up my production quality on this one, so any discussion around the mixing etc is greatly encouraged as I would love to see...

My band just released a new song - Real drums, real everything!

nCjnFWvjXLI My band just released our new song which I engineered, edited, mixed and mastered. I'd be happy to receive opinions on the overall production! The thing I'm most satisifed with the production is, the drums, although sampled, is only sampled with actual samples taken from the kit...

    Using Guitar to record bass

Pitch-shifting guitars can sound OKAY at best. You're better off just buying (there are even tons of free ones) a bass plugin and program it. You can get away with the unrealness of programmed bass, since 1) They usually get pretty smashed in a real mix, so they already sound kind of unreal and...

Industry Standard vs Digital Home Recording

Technically, yes. There have been many professional albums with nothing but programmed drums and stock plugins. as far as I know. You just gotta know how to do it! That said, it's a lot more fun to have a lot of gear/plugins. : D

What "mix problems" do you see in the majority of metal today?

THIS. Over and over again. If you're at least half serious about becoming an engineer, you'll stay away from everything that resembles a preset. Learn to build a mix from the ground up, its the only way you actually learn how everything is supposed to sound, and why it needs to sound that way to...

What "mix problems" do you see in the majority of metal today?

Yeah I'm sure Axe-Fx's are to blame for the whole metal industry's unified "sterile" sound. I'm sure, if all the producers had REAL amps, they would dial them in completely different!

How much MID? And seven string HPF.

Some of my amps the mids are on 2, some on 9 for me. Depends entirely on the amp, the tone I'm after, the guitar, well, everything. Anyone who has a set "THIS IS WHERE I LIKE MY MID TO BE ON ALL AMPS MOHAHAHA", well, they shouldn't.

How Do YOU Record MIDI Drums?

Piano roll for me. Even if I got a keyboard I probably wouldn't be able to play any of the drum parts I write.

What "mix problems" do you see in the majority of metal today?

Thin drums. Yeah, I think in many recent metal mixes the drums, especially the kick lacks some weight. But that's probably just my preference, haha. Also, drums that aren't triggered properly so it becomes obvious that it is.

    Northlane - Singularity Guitar Tone

http://youtu.be/MIajmLP46b4 Well, it's massive, at least in my opinion. I read an interview where they said, quote; "The tones weren’t re-amped. We used a Diezel VH4 into a diezel cab and then a 5150ii into a mesa cab, Will blended these in a summing mixer and then added a Krank...

New To Recording, What To Buy?

Why start with something and then move up? The more "advanced" DAW's aren't exactly harder to learn. Would only cost you more money to first buy Reaper THEN Pro Tools (as an example), than only buying Pro Tools. Also, +1 for Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. It's sweet, and it looks sweet too, haha!
