afaik they use jb's/59's The album was tracked with 5150iii's (not sure on the cab) and miked with a c414, also it's only double-tracked on the rhythms. I find the tone a bit raspy/harsh in spots (maybe that's the 414) but it totally fits the album, and the mix overall is amazing!!
tool/apc type 'emotional rock' - www.myspace.com/frozenalice check out the song called 'mother' really cool vibe, and pretty solid for their first recording!!!
Now that the forum has finished wetting itself  1) Tuning of the new album? A D G C F A D? 2) Are you primarily writing the album in powertab/computer based? I remember mention of you writing 'epitaph' in powertab? 3) How do you approach recording your guitar parts in the studio...
good points ^ I quess you could take comfort in the fact that both are lifelong endeavors, and even someone like petrucci (who may or may not be genetically gifted in both areas) has put in a lot of effort/pressure over a long time ;) If you were a fly on the wall during all the countless...
Definately not roids from looking at that pic, go to any local gym and you'll see at least a couple of dudes bigger than that. Lynch would be the one that was taking something out of those two, simply because of his age/quality of muscle. Greg puciato was pretty impressive a couple of...
I improve most with a highly structured practice routine. I generally map every aspect of the session out beforehand, my maintenance workout would be 1hr everyday, ideally on the weekends I shoot for 3-6hrs. I have nuendo sessions, and backing tracks on my computer starting at around...
Jeez sour grapes anyone? AAL does not sound anything like all the wannabe tech/mesh/djent bands out there.......for starters 50-60% of the album is clean  Secondly the harmonic content/lead playing is miles above what even most seasoned shredders could pull off!! 'Tempting time' imo...
super talented guys from my country yay :agreed: smarts + machine like determination to write superior death metal = ulcerate. I hear they're planning on moving overseas (most likely europe) so you brits/americans may get to see them one day (amazing live)
badass, really liked it!! Kinda bulb meets sikth meets hard rock band :hbang: Nice tone too, one of the better heavy axe-fx clips I've heard, nice and natural.
hahahahah what's actually funny is this........name dropping aside, I can back up solniger333's story (bareknuckles 4 lyfe rich) Maybe other folks here meet them in the wrong environment/mood/etc. That were absolutely lethal in nz, performance wise and partying wise :shred: Of course...
Man, awesome pics!! just caught them in auckland new zealand on the 10th, and even got to go to the after party (thanks zorran!!) Let's just say *cough* the band likes to party, amazing gig and amazing people!! spent a good hour talking to marten, and about 30 mins with fredrik...
sounds cool man...........but..............get some dfhs action up in there!! No need for dfh when there's dfhs (and soon to be dfhs2 which sounds amazing btw) Nice tight playing though......and kinda dry rhythm wise which I like. Reminded me a bit of low-tuned symphony x :hbang:
necrophagist is definately musical, and to get on the whole 'there's to much technique, not enough blues licks/emotion bandwagon is retarded................................. have a listen to some classical man.........chopin, rach etc.................... the piano ideas/licks put *any*...
Totally, and the more you listen/learn some of the riffs you think "what the fuck, this is so good it's retarded" Super musical is a term I'd apply to necrophagist...................... the future of death metal imo, can't wait for the new album :shred:
I've been a fan of duncans for a long time..........great voicing for recording/most applications etc, but............. because it's a 7321 made of basswood I would probably recommend dimarzio, most cool tones with baswood imo have been made with emg's or dimarzio's. try the evo, blaze, or...
yup only standard beadgbe here as well. To me, I use a seven so I can have a six and a lower B string, keep all my fretboard knowledge etc in tact........tuning down and just riffing on the lower strings always begs the question........why not just use a six?
uggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh................... Unearth (no offence fans) are a pathetic, pimpled, teenage grope compared to necrophagist..............and I know a thing or two about pathetic, pimpled, teenage groping :metal:
hmmm................... well I would be looking at the hrg fixed bridge models anyway. And none of those feature titanium in the necks anyway do they? hmmm I'm thinking of going ibanez, as the prices are pretty killer for a 'near' custom gat.
