Just go. That's it. Warehouse job....or MI? Obvious answer. Skip the what ifs because your going to be happy playing and learning. IF you do go learn and most importantly BE SOCIAL AND GET CONTACTS. Contacts are important.
I comment when I can on most peoples stuff. Some music I just can't. It would be me telling them what they should do and probably look like an a**hole. There are a lot of ppl that will ask "what should I do about interfaces,DAW,and monitors etc. etc." I usually just say "do the research". I had...
Mbox or Presonus makes good interfaces. Both do exactly what you want to achieve (recording your instruments). One person will say "mbox is better" the other will say "presonus is better". It's all in the preference. For me I say "tomato...tomatoe". Its whatever. They both will work.
I think the remix your friend did on the drums is good for now. It's a demo for just hashing out song ideas so structure and being tight is whats really important. I never get the drums sounding good until the very last stages when I know the drum, bass, and guitar parts are structured well and...
First you must learn how to operate a DAW. Which means Digital Audio Workstation (Pro Tools,Cubase,Logic). Once you know the ins and outs of your DAW of choice then its on to recording. Drums....I use EZ Drummer Drum Kit From Hell as a plug in and midi map the parts within my DAW channel. I...
The Art of Mixing by David Gibson really helped me a lot. Not really a modern approach since the old school guys use mostly outboard gear but it helps with compression and eq fundamentals. Youtube is a goldmine!
Can you just get a thicker string gauge on your bass to accommodate? I've played some crappy basses on tracks but a fresh set of strings and eq settings does the trick for me.
If it was my song i would ditch the bass drops. If thats possible. Keep at it and keep learning. You'll get better at recording and mixing over time. As far as you are right now I think its good for getting song ideas and structures worked out. The hardest thing I've had to learn is EQ'ing and...
Well structured dude. I would definitely try and alternate the velocities on the hi hats so its not so in your face and at maximum level. It would give it a "real" vibe to the drums.
I think the V amp sounded good man. I really dug the break or "bridge". To be completely honest I got kinda of tired of listing to the first part of the song with just the open notes. But if you had vocals filling that space up I'm sure it would kill. Keep up the good work.
