Yea it has no body to it unless you get the volume up.but I will say it sounds great at volume.it just wasn't what I was looking for at low volume.right now I'm running an eq in the loop with all the sliders pulled down to get that low volume play.

I've had the lbxll since February and not had any channel switching issues.my only gripe with it is that low volume play time is out of the question unless you like that hifi radio sound.the wattage switch doesnt do much except attenuate the signal by dropping the highs a bit.it really doesn't...

Sounds excellent man.I've never played the newer bandits but mine is a late 80's teal stripe with active eq on the lead channel,I pump the low mids up and boost it with my moded sd-1 and I get it to sound just like my 5150.these amps play hard for the money.

I've had so many amps in the past and with my recent down grade in gear i'm currently using my peavey 112 teal stripe bandit.is it tube,no.It is loud and does the job.I never expected it to sound like my 5150 and I don't care.To me its just how the musician uses the tools he's giving,.... what...

It actually was never regretted the original owner bought it new and only played it for one song every gig his band played until about 2005 I think he said.then in the closet it went. Have fun with it man.

Or what you can do since your cab is 16ohm is plug it into the external jack and run all 6 speakers.the combo has a minimum of an 8 ohm load.

Wire your vin30 to 8ohm and connect them to the external speaker Jack, this hits the 8ohm tap on the power tranny.

I would open it up and make sure the jumper from the preamp section to the power amp section is fully connected.if it is then I would check the solder joints on the standby switch.I've read of the switches going bad and not coming fully off standby.

I had a 5150 combo do that intermittently and I would literally have to punch it to stop it.my guess is its and bad solder joint or something to do with a short somewhere.I never did get it fixed but the guy I sold it to must've because he's still using it to this day.

also once you get a set of actives in it i would also try the duncan mtm blackout.it is an alnico 5 magnet but is still pretty aggressive and tight as well,loved it for drop b but not much else really,plus it has more output than a 81.as soon as i dropped the emgs in mine i had that instant...

hey buddy i had the mushok with the 81/85 in it.it sounded pretty brutal and clear.the low end sounded much bigger yet stayed tight, the highs and mids were actually pretty balanced.i used it for death metal and it sounded incredible.

That's cool you got that much out of them but I let mine go for $25 bucks cause I got tired of them laying around.as for using a boost set it up like Ace said as a clean boost.I personally didn't think the red channel needed a boost but the other gain channel did because it was more old school...
