With some Prestiges now hitting $3000CAD after taxes, the old adage is much more true today. Used AZ224's are selling for what I bought used 1570, rga121, rg2570 and rg2550e COMBINED.
That is sick. Looks similar to one off ebay like 10-12 years ago that I'm still kicking myself for not buying. Ended up finding a cherry sunburst flame.
I still go between my JP6 and Prestiges, but the JP6 wins out for the sticky months of July/Aug, can't beat the oiled/waxed neck for that!
Also, that color is awesome and that birdseye maple neck is *chef kiss*
2008. I have one of the rare viking red burled walnut tops. No difference between vibrato or bendng up, sustain above 14th fret or so is very short. Nothing is fretting out. Rich @ ibanezrules even commented on it on jemsite back then. WIth enough gain, it's not a huge issue but it can be...
It's a known issue with the 2008 and maybe 2009 s5470 models, sustain on higher frets just doesn't exist. In 2010, they switched to a different neck and probably neck pocket.
I have one of the first models with 24 frets, they did something wrong with the s5470 to make the fretboard seem dead above the 12th fret. Good thing I play with enough gain that it's not an issue most of the time.
Awesome finds, always love the curves on the S series.
Still thinking about selling my mint 1993 S540LTD in jewel blue. It's been in the case for 2+ years.
Just bought a Freqout last week, it's awesome. Wish I had bought one years ago. Is it like 100% natural feedback from an amp/cab? No. But it's awesome to have something that does a fairly good job with modelers at TV volume!
:)
Even the SEA made one doesn't have the specs of the MiJ Ibby. Still love to try one out, but I don't think I've ever seen the local L&M or mom & pop shop ever carry Schecter in store. I should probably just roll the dice on one of the Harley Benton Fusion IIIs and save over $2000CAD!
Isn't the MIA Nick Johnston like $3300US? And does Fender do stainless frets?
Been looking for a hss/sss strat style for a few months, have played Sire S7, Yamaha Pacificas, Silver Sky SE, Fender Player and American Pro II... none of them had the specs you get from an AZ prestige. None of them...
Well, maybe because not everyone plays metal. Gasp!
Modern take on a strat, it's always going to be popular. What else has MiJ quality with those specs at that price?
The Spydyr 2720. But why spend the money on a banged up used one that will eventually fail when you can just get some work done and have a gotoh or OFR installed :P
Not exactly easy things to find up here in Canada. Didn't fender move to OFR for later models? Hell, Kahler changed the string lock bolts away from hex to flathead because they knew how soft the metal was.
My black '88 has been in its case for years, basically unplayable with the bent trem post.
Yep, 80s HM Strat! Can tell by how corroded all the Kahler licensed FR metal parts are ;)
I really need to send mine into a shop to have the posts removed, doweled then drilled for an OFR (or Gotoh?). Pretty sure the low E trem post on mine is bent and every other hex bolts are in some state of...
