Is something wrong with my Boss HM2? Help!

the only way to get the swedish tone is by maxing out all the settings. The cut off kind of sounds like something is wrong mine doesn't do that. It kinda sounds like you are dampening your strings slightly.

Black metal bass playing? (I know, I know, it's an oxymoron...:)

the idea that bass isnt present in norwegian black metal is actually wrong. It just sounds very different from what a bass guitar typically would sound like. Personally i do whatever what fits best with the riff in terms of playing. Sometimes i play in harmony sometimes i don't. Sometimes i...

Doom/Black metal VSTs? (saint vitus / beherit)

Hello, not sure if this is the right subforum but here goes. I want to record some quick demos at home for my black metal band. So i want to try to emulate the guitar tone we have in practice which is a very bassy warm and everything. In real life i use a Gibson V into Ibanez ts9, mxr...

    Octave pedals

I can layer all sorts of weird effects on the bass output. Might as well make a strength from the weakness. I could even for example put one of those morpheus bombers behind it and downtune it slightly beyond 1/2 octave down to get some weird harmonic bass tones.

    Octave pedals

I am having some issues to find a guitarist for my band and i am thus considering getting an bass sound out of my own guitar together with the normal guitar sound. Naturally this leads to octave pedals. I've been thinking about splitting the signal into 2, 1 would then go into the octave...

Opeth - Michael says Extreme Metal is Dull.

well opeth pretty much evolved out of the whole classical influenced swedish death/black scene(early at the gates, dissection come to mind) Later on it seems mikael seemingly wanted to put more prog rock into his sound. Blackwater park already has more prog rock elements than classical...
