Not the slamdunk you are expecting I think, I have an ESP in for a headstock repair and while the frets are very nice, there are still plenty other brands on par or slightly better. The overall quality is fantastic though.
You would absolutely notice the difference if a guitar wasn't somewhat rolled because it would be not very fun or comfortable to play.
When a neck comes off my CNC after I've rough milled the neck the fretboard edge is basically 90 degrees sharp, once I've carved the neck, that angle actually...
there are lots of custom builders with nice fretwork, Rusti, and Padalka comes to mind.
If you want best off the shelf high end I'd say musicman is the best imo. ESP, Ibanez are pretty good on higher end stuff. James Tyler are very good but do have a unique feel with an almost scalloped...
For sure, I think they use if for necks and fingerboards, even some bodies. I see it mostly used as cheap-er back/sides for acoustics, and fingerboard on cheaper electrics/acoustics.
Nice timber I'll take it over rosewood any day!
Moving my main 6 to storage for a while, as I find a better place to live. But I really wanna keep the same vibe with a cheaper guitar.
Neck Thru, 2 hums, and a floyd, inline headstock. Is there anything similar other than a Jackson Soloist?

Kind of interested in what everyone thinks of Case Candy?
I've seen it kind of less and less these days. Sometimes it can be junk sometimes it can be good.
Any thoughts on actual worthwhile case candy they've had or would like when they open a guitar case?
Thanks! Black Limba and Ovangkol. Ovangkol is highly underrated imo, it's used on a lot of cheap guitars but the timber is not expensive and it looks fantastic. It's a very comfy shape so kudos to Abasi and designers involved. I've taken some creative liberties with the design in terms of the...
The new Yamaha Pacifica Standard/Pro range is very good. You could also look at the Michael Landau Coma strat (used might be a good price). The Schecter Van Nuys Traditional. New Jackson American Series Soloist would do both metal and your session stuff.
But if you want a strat sound a Fender...
Thank you! Yea all those darker lines of figure turn purple in the light at an angle. It has the correct effect I wanted, but think I definitely got a bit too much black in the maple particularly on the right side between the pickups. But at least I know for next time.
This finish was an absolute pain. I knew it would be but still it sucked to do. Masking off the binding didn't really help it was still really easy to bleed in to the ash, so I had to just go round the edges with a q-tip and then clean up bleed. And I think I oversaturated the maple with black...
