Beginner alternate picking and sweep picking

I think TIMEwaveXERO said it perfectly, practice is totally key with any instrument. It may seem tedious, but it will help in the long run and make you a better, well rounded player. I would also start by playing easy stuff with a met and build up speed.

    Profile change

Probably a really simple fix, but how do I get to my profile and change things around like my picture, information, and other stuff? I want to look like more than just a lurker :D Thanks! -Ben

    Help choosing a new Ibanez...

Well, I have to put the new 8 on the back burner for a while. I got shafted for the trade in value at the shop and will probably try to trade on here or sell my h-308 outright. They tried giving me $200 for my like-new guitar and a 1x12 acoustic troubadour amp.

How do you guys use 8 string, and bass guitar?

Musically, I would say that separating parts into points of interest is key. If the bass is playing something worth hearing then bring out the interesting line and try not to be too concerned about how things are tuned, and same thing with guitar. As for the chug, unison most likely because too...

    New 8 day. ESPecially awesome.

That is too cool. I've played his lower end models and they just seem to growl. Score on that one.

Which other guitarists would you like to see collaborate?

I would love to see Javier play with awesome classical players. I think it would be interesting because Javier is a monster of multiple genres. His work with David Stout on brass with Mestis is one of the best things I've ever laid ears on.

What should I do at this point?

I've seen a lot of players do it either way. I think the big thing is what your play style is and how well you think that you play what you do. For example, a classical player wouldn't anchor because they need the pinky to play in the right hand. If you are comfortable with what you are doing...

    Piano Lessons/Youtube channels......

I have looked for some on YouTube but a lot of them are pretty bad camera work or just bad playing all together. I would love to find some good videos for piano playing too, but I think the best way to do it is just to practice a lot, and practice different things, so you seem to have that on lock.

Switching to 7 string: Need direction!

I played 6's for about six years and totally skipped 7's and jumped right to 8's. My biggest piece of advice would be to know the fret board really well and understand how things are shaped such as chords, progressions, inversions, etc. For me, it was an easy transition and I really enjoy the...

    Help choosing a new Ibanez...

Cool, I think that after all of the recommendations it is still a pretty even race for the Iron Label or the S8. I really do wish I could try to carvin stuff or the schecter though. I feel like it would help me get the feel of some other 8's.

    Help choosing a new Ibanez...

I really wish I could try before I buy these guitars, My guitar shop doesn't have any in stock and the only way I would get to play any of them is if I bought them with my trade in items. Another tough factor is that everyone has their opinions and that may or may line up with what I want in a...

    Help choosing a new Ibanez...

I played a few different models. My friend has one of their older 7s and he likes it, but its just not for me. I checked out the SLS and it isn't too bad spec wise, but I would for sure need to test drive it first. I think the Iron Label 8 is probably going to be the one I choose since it...

    Help choosing a new Ibanez...

I'm not sure what it is about any Schecter that I have played. Just too thin in the sound range and too fat in the neck and body. Kinda burly.

    Help choosing a new Ibanez...

My big thing is that I just recently bought an Ibanez 25th anniversary and I really like the guitar a lot. My other reason is that I need to do a trade in because I cannot afford one new and my current one has not been selling at all on craigslist, and the LGS is an ibanez dealer, so I would...

    Help choosing a new Ibanez...

That's what I was worried about with the RGA8, the pickups and the EQ would suck. I hope that the Iron Label has enough space for the 18v.

    Help choosing a new Ibanez...

Hey all, I'm looking to trade in my old 8 for a new one. My current one is an h-308 with the short neck and EMG's. I'm looking into new ones mainly because I want the longer neck, but the same sound that the 308 will give me. I know you guys are helpful and have most likely played these...

    Scale length issues h-308

Double post, my bad I forgot to add in the RGA8. I want something that is good right out of the box with good PU's and I can take it out the night I get it. Also, I really appreciate all the answers I am getting with the current situation on my 8 string.

    Scale length issues h-308

So, If I were to switch to a new guitar for the longer scale length, what would be the best? The new Iron Label, an S8, or the RG8? I really want to get an Ibanez for trade at my local dealer. I've been trying to sell mine for a while, or even trade it, but there haven't been any bites and...

    Scale length issues h-308

Cool cool, Thank you for all of the answers on this. I've been looking for an answer for a while and I just couldn't figure it out. My regular guitar tech kept bumping up the gauge and drilling the peg, but I think I'll just try something a little bigger and meant for an 8 versus a bass string...

    Scale length issues h-308

Hey gang, This has probably been answered before, but I'm having issues with my ltd h-308 as far as string tension and and intonation goes. It has the 25.5 scale length and I tune standard seven with a drop E. I've tried a bunch of different strings for the low E, but everything is just too...
