That's the root question I ask, myself. Its fun to talk about what we hate, of course -- but I think that's why the creators of the maligned tones are where they are and we're here. They did something right to get where they were.
Yeah I always hated the tone of most djent bands. When I was younger it made collaborating with other local kids difficult cause thats all they wanted to play like/sound like.
Pretty much sums up how I feel. Even with this thread, tone is gonna be heavily subjective and we're all nerds who...
Absolutely! Mic to amp has it's own goblins to work out as far as placement of the mic but its interesting to really get some hands on comparison with sim vs mics
I think that's part of my issue -- Mixing, to a point, is highly subjective and so I don't know what could be qualified as mixed and mastered well. The only general idea I have is that I was shooting for a clarity in the mix that allows you to hear what each guitar is doing since I like to use...
This is all great feedback, thanks you guys!
I just released a demo and while I was happy with myself about how much I learned on my own and how was able to put it to use, the high wore off quickly and it's back to work mode because I know I've got so much more to learn and I wanted to start...
I'm using the Focusrite 2i2 Scarlett (1st Gen) with the most up to date drivers. The gain knob is sitting between 8 and 9 o'clock. I also have a Countryman Type 85 DI Box before the Focusrite.
I've moved the gate to be first in the chain and it's definitely cut out the noise when armed. Now I'm...
I'm looking to finally be rid of a pain in my neck when it comes to tracking guitars.
First, the technical stuff. I'm using Reaper, and this is my FX Chain:
In the screenshot the gate is on but when I turn it off, the hiss you'll hear in the attached audio file only gets a little louder. It...
That's good to know as far as Jericho's lead time. They seem to have a very scarce presence online but everyone I've seen with reports on their models are glowing so I'm feeling good about that.
I've been keeping an eye on Dunable since their Namm appearance in 2019 so I'm just waiting for...
I will for sure! You bring a good point -- There's another model I found that the 'Captive Soulmaster' which offers a 25.75 scale length which actually is perfect for me since I already play some ESP/Edwards guitars with the same scale length.
I'm feeling the NGD bug biting me and I'll be in the market for a new guitar soon. Mainly I'm looking for ones that are from smaller but still high quality brands. I'd like to compare them against my current #1 pick, the Soulmaster from Jericho Guitars. Specifically I like the 'non-metal' look...
Reaction videos are the near- final result of the common person being so numbed to everything that we have to watch people livestream feeling something, whether it's a 'genuine' feeling or not.
Oh man, I remember Crossfade. They actually had quite a handful of songs that were very listenable with some actually killer riffs!
They were one of the first bands I learned plays 7-strings, way back then, too.
They always struck me as a band with metal potential and real talent but they...
I say ditto to this. It's the one you always pick up because it's "ol' reliable" basically.
I've had my EC 401 for years and between that one and my Edwards, the EC is always the one I pick up the most to play. The Edwards is higher quality and more expensive so I tend to baby it, but the 401...
Devil May Cry 5 was such a satisfying play-through. They cleared up the story and addressed pretty much all the fan questions and they dropped some serious story bombs that had me like "DUUUUUUUUDE" while playing.
Also, just beat the main story of Horizon Zero Dawn (another phenomenal game)...
I'm pretty much locked into D Standard when writing my own stuff, but I'll occasionally tune down to Drop C if I can figure a use for it. Drop tunings don't 'feel' as right to play anymore, to me.
