Thanks for the advice! The style would be mostly progressive metal. Like Dream theater but I'll also want that tight djenty sound at times as well.
I'll be playing with a pick for sure. But may switch to fingers once I develop those techniques.
Strings: most likely the cheaper Ernie balls or...
Looks like I got a wide variety of answers. So maybe, I should ask what to look for in a bass? What makes a bass "metal". Or are Bass guitars not like standard in that sense?
Hi everyone!
I really don't know much, if anything, about bass guitars. I am looking for a bass to use for recording, mostly for progressive metal. I want something that I could use for a long time and won't be limited with tonally after a year or so. I wouldn't mind spending a but more than...
I believe it has the same effects as the POD HD. I may be wrong but if it does, it has so many effects to create so many different sounds. And the idea of the different effects is brilliant! You can make some really interesting and nice tones with it. The only thing is I find the quality of the...
I tried this and I can actually get it now. The first part of it is becoming muscle memory. It feels weird how the timing becomes muscle memory too!
Thanks for the advice guys!
Thank you. That's all I was able to come up with 4/4 . So I guess he is purposely throwing those notes in random places of the meter.
How do you go about playing this? Do you count it or just listen to it until you've memorized how it sounds?
I'm trying to learn dystopia by tesseract. Technically this song isn't very challenging but the crazy timing is so confusing. The part that's really getting me is around 2:00. It seriously sounds random. Is it random or is he playing a different time? How does one count that? Or do you just...
How do these pickups work? It's probably been answered but I can't find it. I heard they don't have a preamp like other actives and that the battery powers the technology. But what is the technology that is being powered? I hear about passive voice and active voice. Does the passive voice not...
That's a good idea actually! That thought occurred to me a while back but I forgot about it. I think I will do that. What I like about the new units and the 11r is that I can reamp so I don't have to get the perfect tone the first time. But I think I will hold off. I'm trying to skip a...
I was considering a headrush gigboard but thought i might as well save money and get an eleven rack. I currently have a POD hd500x which I really don't like the feel of. But maybe I might just stick with it for now.
A lot of people tend to bring up the arguments that the headrush sounds the same as the eleven rack (same technology, tones, etc.) So I'm curious if anyone here has actually tried both units and what your thoughts are? Is this true? I'm aware that the headrush is more flexible with more tones...
Yeah, ESP seems to call everything a thin U. The other day I played two ESP guitars that were thin u. And one was much bulkier than the other. If only they'd write the dimensions of each model.
