    I found 2023 very disappointing for metal music. Lots of extreme stuff, none of which appeals to me. My favorite album of the year is a re-recording: Paradise Lost's Icon 30! I don't care. It is still awesome!

    In Flames, Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth have all been through several tunings oder the years. It seems to me that they use a lot of standard tunings and then dropped the low string on some songs as well. Like Clayman (the song), or Only for the Weak,I can play that in C standard. Similarly, Amon...

    I like Megadeth for the song and riffs. Never got all the fascination for all the “neoclassical guitar wankery” . For me Diver/Pitrelli were just as good as Friedman/Poland/Broderick.

    Yes; I briefly had a Brute Force in my RG. It seems to have a bit of Warpig DNA in it so will work great for all those styles. I went to a SD JB instead though, as I was more interested in lead sounds/upper mid rather than the sledgehammer sound of the Brute Force.

    Zack was just groundbreaking when he joined Ozzy and recorded No More Tears. People forget that, because of the time that passed and because he's done a million other, less popular things since then. Steve Vai really just did what he already had done on previous albums. No negative judgement...

    Always Ozzy. Steve Van has commented many times on how the whole Whitesnake thing really didn't work out with him. I don't consider him a part of Whitesnake at any length. To add, he also wrote songs with Ozzy (for the album Ozzmosis) and almost joined the band, but it somehow didn't work out...

    Not really misunderstood, but "coleus sanctus" is supposed to be "iron balls". ;-) Though you get the meaning if you understand the lyrics. Now Powerwolf needs to learn some proper latin declinations though...

    Queen - It's a miracle. When I first heard the song I thought Freddie was singing "It's America." If you listen closely, it does sound closer to America than miracle in many places. Also Queen: I swear they sing "fried chicken" in the last chorus of "One vision". 5:56 or so... Uptown funk...
