    Liberals Voice Concerns About Obama

Well, that took a long time: Liberals voice concerns about Obama - Yahoo! News Liberals are growing increasingly nervous – and some just flat-out angry – that President-elect Barack Obama seems to be stiffing them on Cabinet jobs and policy choices. Obama has reversed pledges to...

    Rack help!

I have an ADA MQ-1 (rackmount midi EQ unit) I'm looking to move shortly if that's of any interest.

    I have a package (56k = chipped hatchet)

Ha! Indeed I am. I didn't even make the connection until I saw this thread. Small world... :hbang:

    I have a package (56k = chipped hatchet)

It'll take some tweaking time for sure. The effects are worth the price of admission alone. Glad to hear it made it there safe, a whole lot quicker than my Tremoverb coming from Canada that customs decided to hang onto for 8 days.

    Fractal Axe-FX 4 da newb!

Yep, if you want a Recto tone, definitely get a Recto. If you want a variety of tones, some that are "Recto-ish," then get an Axe-Fx. You can't replace the original. And FWIW, I think I remember the guys from Cynic mentioning that they didn't use the AFX on the album, they're only using it...

Are rack systems way too heavy??

If you plan on gigging, you know you're going to have to carry a bunch of stuff regardless. Racks aren't bad, even 10-12 space shock racks. They have casters...as long as you have a vehicle to transport them, you roll them around most everywhere you go and you have bandmates if you ever need to...

My rig gets smaller and smaller (Anyone else like this?)

All the time. I constantly convince myself I need more crap in my live rig than I do. I used to have a large pedalboard with a ridiculous amount of pedals on it, had multi effects processors, switchers, etc. When it came down to it, I realized all I ever used was a few pedals at best. I've even...

I need to know some stuff about VHT power amps

Genz Benz El Diablo for low-tuned crushing metal?

It has more gain than anyone would ever need for any style of music, but I don't like them at all. I had to use one - twice - at a music festival we played. It's what they had in their backline. I had my pedalboard, so I tried boosting, options, etc...nothing made it sound anything like what I...

I need to know some stuff about VHT power amps

I have a VHT 2/50/2. Extremely well built power amp, very clean and more neutral than my Mesas (which is why I went with it). I'm also local, and depending on how my gear trades go, I may be selling one... :yesway:

    Good poweramp for Axe-Fx??

To approximate the general sound, sure that may be the case. The power amp sim will impart the tonal characteristics of the power amp it's emulating just like the preamps. However, it doesn't supply power (stating the obvious, I know). So, you're at the mercy of the power amp that you feed it...

    Nothing Like

Interesting topic. It definitely shouldn't be mandatory at any level. Telling a bunch of kids they "have" to do something is the quickest way to make them not want to do it. It's great in theory, but definitely not practical. When you're talking about middle school kids, you become a burden...

Would this be considered a "professionalized" rig?

The voice of reason! :cool:I'm sure the rack version is great quality and all, but if someone actually needs to drop $450+ to eliminate noise from their rig, then something is wrong with the rig to start with. It's nothing a used $50 pedal in front can't cure with minimal to no tone loss. I can...

To the Mods and Owners of the site.

I'm sure it's a coincidence. I went over to the Splawn board once (of which Scott is well-known Christian) and saw a huge banner promoting "Satanic jewelry" at some site. Pure coincidence.

    Noise gates

BOSS NS-2. I use one with my Maxon OD808 and Recto. I can stand directly in front of my Recto with the volume cranked on the OD channel and it's so quiet you wouldn't even know the amp is on. Virtually no tonal coloration, no loss of sustain, built like a tank. I've beat the hell out of mine and...

Yet another AxeFX clip making me want to bust out my wallet...

So can someone point me to some clips of the Axe-Fx doing metal rhythm that doesn't sound like something you can achieve with a POD? Not poking fun at it, I'm seriously looking for some non POD-like clips if you have some links. I'm curious to check it out.

    Maxon OD-808?

Love the OD808 as a boost, my favorite pedal and now an integral part of my sound. Like Mike above, I didn't have to re-EQ my amp with the boost. It just enhanced what was already there. I use it with a BOSS NS-2 right after it. It's a great combo. A bass reduction, mid bump, tighter tone, and...

    To All Mesa Rectifier Users

With Rectos (I use 2 channel Rectos), I like EMG's and V30 cabs. For heavy stuff, I use the modern red channel, "Bold" and "Silicon Diodes." In front, I run a Maxon OD808 & BOSS NS-2. The Maxon is always with the gain at "0" (off), the tone changing to taste (usually around 10:00 - 11:00) and...

Obama Campaign Goes for McCain's "Keating Five" Involvement

I live with it every day. I have a set of in-laws (who were staying at my house as we watched the VP debate together) that are die-hard, "the media hates my party" Republicans. They refuse to believe anything negative about Bush/McCain/Palin, despite the evidence. On an interesting note, my...
