Not just the "U", every letter of the word Custom Shop is in a different font, and you can see the feathering of the edge of the decal which is not present in the real thing.

I've revisited the full pictures. The battery compartment is not normal for those LTDs and the neck heel looks off also.

Yes, you could order a Custom Shop version, but this is not one.

There is no question it's not an ESP Custom Shop guitar. Even the Made in Japan sticker is the wrong size.

This EX is not a Custom Shop ESP. The Custom Shop logo is an aftermarket water slide decal. The font in both the Custom Shop wording and serial number are wrong. I would have imagine it's a repurposed LTD but the neck heel doesn't look right for an LTD either, nor the battery compartment.

Thanks for the interest in Jon's model. We started this process on the 20th January last year and worked through lots of ideas before settling on this configuration. Lots of details and mockups and back and forth and ESP Japan nailed it to a tee. More pics now that all the guitars have arrived

Only one of those is a baritone. The baritones bridge is placed further back. Sending the pickup further back along with it would create more treble so I assume they like that position for the bridge pickup's tone.

Black satin is still normal production availability, yes. And we have two gloss black but they won't go in to production.

Your book is very wrong, and it won't be the only thing it's way off on. Vintage Guitar Price Guide is no better on contemporary guitars. The most expensive ESP they list is an LTD, the Redburn Eclipse from a few years ago or something, at $1,700. How on earth they came up with that is anybody's...
