Roland VG-99 or Line 6 Pod X3 Live?

The VG-99 is not actually a guitar synth even though it does have some synth sounds in it. But it does have a guitar to midi converter for using with a synth module. Nevertheless, to get close to the type of modeling it does, you would probably need to use both the Line 6 Variax (guitar models)...

Recommend me a guitar with synth access

I have a Godin xtSA that is very nice. Like you said, the neck is a bit thick on it. I also have a Brian Moore iguitar 8.13. It has a much thinner neck and plays very nicely. It seems to track the lower notes better than the Godin when finger-picking. However, the acoustic piezo output on the BM...

    Suggestions for some depressive jazz

Not necessarily obscure, but here are some darker tunes. Invitation Angel Eyes You Don't Know What Love Is Almost anything by Billie Holiday. I like tunes that go back and forth from happy to sad. When Sunny Gets Blue My Funny Valentine The Shadow of Your Smile Quiet Nights of...

    Who's In A Gigging Band?

I play my modded 7 string in a classic rock cover band that also does a bit of 30's and 40's and a C/W tune or two if asked for. I do a lot of the singing and play bass/guitar/synth all at once. My current 7 string has three bass string, four guitar strings and a Roland GK pickup (with bad...

    Midi / Roland GK-3 on a 7 string?

I had a friend with the VG-88. It is a very nice guitar processor that does modeling of all kinds and even allows for alternative tunings, but like you said, it's not really a synth. I suppose one could say it's almost six different guitar processors in one. I would've bought one a few years...

    Digital Synthesizer Question

I've been using guitar synth for about ten years. It's especially good for organs and strings. I stopped for about a year and now I'm back into it. Some possibly useful information: Hex pickups don't convert sound to midi. The Roland pickups are mag and simply pick up one string at a time with...

    Midi / Roland GK-3 on a 7 string?

I just installed an interal Roland pickup into my DeArmond seven string (three bass strings, four guitar strings) and it works pretty well. The tracking is not as good as the RMC piezo system on my Godin, but is acceptable for live Rock and Roll.

Questions about Ghost systems + synth buggery

The first problem is just as you said: converters are made for six inputs. You've given one possible solution which GraphTech seems to think is less than adequate. That doesn't mean you can't try it. I plan to. Right now I have a Godin six string with RMC electronics and a seven string with an...

Questions about Ghost systems + synth buggery

Don't give ups so soon. Do you really need to have synth on more than six strings? The tracking wouldn't be as good on the lower notes anyway, and you wouldn't want to play more than four strings at a time for a piano sound (since finger picking is the best way to do piano). Plus you can set it...
