Wood and bone bring more warmth and vibrations , it is much more musical to my ears ,
furthermore with neck trough and strong trough : eternal sustain , monstrous vibrations really !
Anyway I didn't have other choice than to build such a bridge because of the increased string spacing ,
then also...
The wood and bone bridge brings a lot to the acoustic fulness of the tone ,
and I carved the body for a better access to last frets , the horn cutting was just an esthetic improvement .
This guitar was an eight strings , now 7 , all wood and bone nut and bridge , I can tell you it sounds gorgeous acoustically , and the x-bars are just heaven here ;

I use the Lace X-bar in both neck and bridge and they can do everything with tremendous clarity , definition , silence and dynamic . But as they are very transparent so you have first to get a guitar with a beautiful acoustic tone .
If the guitar has a good acoustic sound you could try the Lace X-Bar in both position ,
they can do everything with clarity and wide but neutral sonic range .
The split tones are very single coil like , without noise and volume drop .
If your guitar has a good acoustic sound , you could try the Lace X-Bars , they can do everything with clarity , precision of a low resistance pickup , broad EQ .
Lace X-bar can't be beaten for clean tone ; very natural broad sound that let the wood come through , if the luthery is good .
I have both x-bar in bridge and neck and it does everything with articulation , clarity and broad+even EQ .
The Screaming Demon ( sh12 or tb12 for f spaced ) is a very good neck humbucker .
It is powerful , percussive , fluid for leads with gain without flabbiness , and the split mode is very stratty .
Another one in drop C , less talented player but with the split tone :
So , as I was writing up , I removed the Deathbar I installed the X-bar at the bridge today and it just does what I expected .
There is not a big difference in output with the Deathbar , less bass and thickness , low strings are more lively and precise ,
more treebles , a faster attack on all...
I have a deathbar in the bridge and an x-bar on the neck , of a very resonant and full sounding guitar , with solid acoustic basses .
I found that the deathbar to be too powerful for my taste , with a lot of bass and mids but no bite on treebles .
I like a more even sounding p-u , with less...
X-bar could be a bit thin and underpowered in the bridge ... after it depend on what you are after . it could work with a lot of distortion . The coil tap option is very unusual and effective . ( no hum no volume loss )
