Yeah since I've been in this small apartment I switched to Mark V: 35>Suhr RL>Reaper>Headphones or Yamaha HS5s. It's awesome. Love being able to jam along as if I'm in the mix too, and I can cover a lot of tonal ground with that amp.
This guy models.
But yeah, I agree. The modelmaking world is where you can find the precision stuff that'll get you the sharp lines you're looking for. I do not recommend taking the cheapest route and using painters tape and spray paint...
I prefer multiple guitars all tuned in half step increments down since I mostly play in my music room, on my computer. When I want to jam along to any song, I can pick one up for whatever tuning the original band is in and drop tune that if necessary. When I'm recording and want a another guitar...
Shit, I'm literally about to start a woodworking apprenticeship in 2 weeks, and leaving a 12 year career in the booze industry to do so. My friend who I'll be learning under is a master craftsman though, so I have no doubts that this move is worth it in the long term. Unfortunately the price of...
Woah, very cool. Thanks for the information. Certainly interested in those diamond string ties, and even their zero-fret nut. I guess it's easy to underestimate simple innovations still happening in nylon string guitars!
Piccolos are nice as an auxiliary, or extra snare to have around, but not very versatile to keep as a main. One of the problems is smaller tuning range and lots of crack but not a lot of body. If you are interested in them, maybe a deep 13" (aka the power piccolo) could be an option. My main is...
Those are good, I don't find them everywhere but I've tried them before. I suppose in theory, that ball end strings should also stretch and reach tuning stability faster than hand tied knots, where slippage at the knot (especially because I suck at getting pretty, consistent knots) adds another...
I actually always tune my classical up at least a half step to F standard, then leave it for a day, re-tune, leave it again. Once the strings are properly stretched they generally hold pretty well. Also, I'm a fan of ball end nylon strings, I hate having to look up how to properly knot regular...
Right, I'd totally explore more blues if I knew where to look, but in this thread alone the suggestions are basically to listen to when blues players... sound less like the blues. Maybe that's just what I need lol.
See, but that's the thing that brings up the question. Why does the blues get that reverence as if playing a PeNtAtOnIc LiCk WiTh fEeLiNg is the mark of a real guitar player that "get's it"?? Sure there's lots of historical context and importance behind the blues, but I always felt like it's...
I live within walking distance to Distinctive. The first time I set foot in there, felt like the first time walking into GC as a kid. Scared of the expensive guitars haha. And I was looking for a Suhr Reactive Load!
My Yamaha THR10 and mini-pedals has been the best practice rig I've ever had. Currently, I do usually play with my Mesa Mk V:35 into my computer, and the THR is now my living room TV-noodling amp. Perfect for that situation as well.
Congrats! She's a beaut! I used to have an AS73 when I was a teen too. Sure, I used it for more rock and jazz oriented playing, but I also played plenty of metal on it. The semi-hollow tone just sounded so thick through high-gain, provided you kept the feedback in check. It was one of their...
