Totally with you on this. I went to a Kee Marcello show last night and he had two VA Custom Pros, an Olympic White with white EMGs and a red burst (Lukather) with black EMGs and the tones were killing it. However, I did the math on this a while back when @narad was kind enough to offer me get...
Wow, you're not kidding. This really looks like they took an old promo photo and made a new version of it. I like the idea of the EMG89 since that has two separate preamps for the humbucking and single coil functions. I'd be very interested in some first-hand information on how this feels...
I've recently started doing a lot more session work in the AOR genre. Lukather, Landau, Huff type of studio work, loads of pristine chorused cleans, position 2/4 stuff, and I find myself with an arsenal of metal guitars with humbuckers everywhere. I can do reasonably well with pedals and...
Interesting! IA always struck me as the kind of guy who really doens't care what guitar he's playing. He constantly goes on about 'I don't know anything about wood, pickups, all I know it these work great' during clinics. So it'll be interesting to see where he jumped to. I mean credit where...
In an everyday situation, I tune MAYBE once a week. When tracking, I tune between every take. A friend of mine said a session guitarist gets paid to tune, not to play, since that's what you do 94% of the time.
I'll be honest and say that out of all the things that have been announced, I'm the most psyched about this one:
A Tamagotchi in a guitar pedal that levels up when you practice? Sign me up. This is the sort of whimsy I need in 2024.
Other than that, the X-88IR by Soldano has me intrigued...
As far as I see though, for instance, the low goes 10-330 Hz on the Para and 30-100 on the Ibanez. Next one is 35-500 versus 85-360, then 250-5k versus 200-1.3k, 1k-20k versus 620-4k and finally 1.5k-22k versus 1.5k-14.5k.
All the bands on the Para EQ are wider and the eq as a whole has a...
I noticed the frequency bands are nowhere near as wide, and significantly pushed toward the "middle" compared to the Para EQ Mk2 deluxe. I wonder if this will have an effect on how useful this is.
Holy crap! I was wondering where that massively figured quilted maple was coming from in the recent Jackson Custom shop posts. Thanks for sharing this!
This came out on Reverb a few days ago. Master build, top mount Floyd with a neck angle, the mini switches instead of a selector... My wallet is shivering.
If I hadn't already solved my amp itch with an SLO-30 two years ago I'd be giving this a serious look. I had to get a reactive load for it since that's my use case so this would have been perfect. Sounds killer in the clips I hear.
My oldest is an acoustic, a 1970 Epiphone Eldorado. Electric wise it's a 1987/88 Vester. Otherwise I have a few 90s items, mostly rack stuff like a Soldano SP-77 and a Marshall 9001.
I always wondered where the color of my Jackson Broderick came from. Now that I see it it's very clear what the inspiration was, right down to no inlays, body colored binding, all of it. I didn't know this!
