I see the point. If we only used one kind of string, it would be much more easily tested. But on the other hand, we're using all of these different strings on basically only three or four scale lengths, and there's a rough consensus that some combinations work better than others for a majority...

I swear by my Diavlo head. Keep the bright switch on and the gain relatively low and you'll have excellent tight thrash sounds.

I love the look of the black open pore artist, but the Evertune spoils it for me. I appreciate what it does, I just find it too big and blocky, and I'm not a fan of prominent logos on hardware. Kinda wish they'd develop a more streamlined version, but I don't know if that's even possible.

Take a neck- thru, cut off the neck, and then bolt it back on. I guarantee the tone will suffer. Case closed :D

I also like the look of a nice neck-thru, which is totally a subjective taste thing. There's been a lot of guitars that I've wished looked as good in front as they do from the back.

I couldn't find a set that really worked for me across the board, ended up getting a Stringjoy custom set with 64 on the bottom and a wound 3rd. Sound-wise it's good but nothing special, but the feel is much closer to what I like. I'm amazed that anyone can get good results out of less than 60+...

Has anybody got their hands on one of the sandblasted SE Customs yet? I always really liked that look on the Mayones. I'd jump on it if I was more sure that the guitar quality was worth the price, especially with the extra hit for shipping from Europe to the US.

Yeah, I hate to sound old fashioned but companies with an outdated website and social media-only runs seem like a danger sign. GoC seems to be following the Ormsby model... I'll give them props for a fast full refund anyway.
