Thanks everyone for your opinions!
In the end, I didn’t want to get a “bad” Premium, so I ended up getting an RG752 from Rich Harris at Ibanez Rules.
He worked on the fret edges for me, and I ended up getting an awesome guitar!
:)
I was surprised to learn that most if not all Prestige guitars with maple fretboards do NOT get the Prestige fret end treatment.
I saw pics of the guitar that I bought from Rich BEFORE he worked on the frets, and they were pretty jagged. But he fixed them up and now they feel great!
Finally!
My first Prestige, and it’s a 7 string!
I can only play it unplugged til I get my Line6 Helix Floor tomorrow.
However, right off the bat I love it!
The neck feels perfect; not too fat, not too thin.
The playability is excellent.
I bought it from Rich an IbanezRules...
So I opted to order the RG752AHM from Rich, and he fixed the fret ends for me. I should receive it March 6th.
:)
In regard to fret ends:
Yes, it is puzzling to me how some guitars with a high price tag can come with such crappy fretwork.
Just yesterday, I took my 13 year old daughter to buy...
I ordered 3 guitars from them. 2 were Carvins, 1 a Kiesel brand.
1st order: DC127. Sent in a photo showing the exact quilted maple pattern I wanted. Paid extra for it. The guitar came with almost NO quilted maple pattern. Played like a dream, but the tone was “meh”. I sold it.
2nd order...
Lol, I’ve been following a Evertune since they came out like 8 or 9 years ago?
The trem version has been “coming soon” for at least 5 years, so it’s highly unlikely to be coming out in the near future.
:)
After much thought, I wasn’t ready to fully commit to the Evertune. I DO rely on very nuanced vibrato, and my previous experience with the Evertune is that there IS a slight lag and difference in feel when doing bends with it.
I also want an instrument that offers me the MOST expressiveness...
Well, all I know is that the Evertune creator said it SHOULD be able to work with 008 gauge strings (this was 2 years ago).
After my tech installed it, the B string (and G string sometimes,) would not stay in tune.
I specifically ordered low tension modules, but nothing helped.
The tech and I...
So I ended up ordering an RG762AHM after all; Rich said he could get it done in about a week for me! I opted NOT to do his higher level of work (Platinum, gold, or silver) and went with the Bronze level. Because really, all I wanted done was to make sure the fret end were filed down just a tiny...
After an enormous amount of thoughtful consideration, I have decided upon my first Ibanez Prestige:
The Ibanez RGR752AHBF Prestige 7 String!
I'm going to have Evertune install a custom bridge in it, so it can be my perfect recording/live playing guitar.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't...
