I have them in a Mayones Duvell 6. I think they sound great with the 5150 and with hot rodded Marshall type amps. Plenty of bite and not flubby in the low mids. I actually prefer the M6 over them though with the Rectifier. I am referencing Axe 3 modeled amps.
My personal opinion is that...
I swapped my TKO’S out for the Nazgul/Sentient. The TKO’S sounded brittle and sterile for metal IMO. I think they would work well for articulate lead work though. My Mayones does not have a tone knob and I got tired of trying to make them work for me. I also have a love hate relationship...
I have the Nazgul in a Mayones Duvell 6 and 7. The 6 string Nazgul sounds better IMO. However, I think this is due to different tunings. IMO the Nazgul sounds better in drop d and c than drop a.
I have 2 of these - both Indos. The fit, finish and playability is pretty good on these. I did have them plek’d on purchase at Sweetwater though. One of the 5 way switches died. The electronics are typical quality in this price point IMO.
I have a Hydra 7 gothic and it is SICK! Love it. If you keep checking musicstorelive.com you can get one for a reasonable price. I put sfty4 pups in mine and this pic was taken right after that prior to cutting the strings. My one slight gripe would be that it’s hard to get a flush cut after...
I usually play 7’s but I’ve been doing covers lately...hoping to be playing out this summer...and I picked up this Mayones Duvell 6 Elite from Music Store Live a bit ago. It’s really sent me in another direction creativity wise and is a welcome and much appreciated diversion.
Mahogany body...
I bought a Ran that shipped from Poland that was not in a hard case. The box was beat up but the guitar was very well packed and it was fine. I swore though that I would never do the no case international thing again. I also ordered a Mayones that came from Belgium in the Mayones soft case...
I pulled the trigger and ordered another Vader 7. I did the same last year during the Black Friday sale and got a stunning instrument. Mine was “not returnable” because I got a poplar top but it was/is pretty darn perfect.
All my 7’s are 25.5 and I use a dr ddt .65 for drop a. I don’t think you can get away with a .56 for drop a on a 26.5. Also, you have to get the relief and string height right before intonation. How sharp is the a string? If notes are going sharp when fretting - if you have a heavy touch...
I use these i got them on amazon but here is the website. I would guess you need the baritone one. Also, you may have to remove the spring in order to get the saddle back enough to intonate.
