I hate to make another topic but I feel like my last wasn't specific enough (Picking)

I'm totally self taught (8 years), I do not anchor, and I don't think I'm a very effective picker. Everyone says you need to pick the strings at an angle but how do you do that on the top strings if there isn't a place to rest your hand? When I try to rest it on the bridge not only is it...

    My picking needs some help

A couple of months ago I decided to start working on my picking hand because I just wanted to get better. I feel a lot of tension in my arm even when I pick with my wrist and it feels really inconsistent. One day I'm Yngwie Malmsteen and the next, I'm a dude who just picked up a guitar. What am...

Troy Stetina's Speed Mechanics for Lead Guitar - help

So i was just wondering. Would anyone be able to give me some advice on how to go about doing the picking exercises at the start. He briefly explains that you start at 80bpm go up to a comfortable speed in increments of bpm then back down 20 and go up in 2 then down 1. But this has me...

    Alternate picking-exercises

So I've been really lazy the last year and my right hand is not what it used to be. I want some really fun exercises that are awkward and difficult. I don't want any 1234 ones, I've done enough of those. At the moment I'm working on Nevermore's Born. That lick in the chorus is exactly the kind...
