Hey guys, I just recently tried to completely learn all about string tensions so i could put together a custom set. I have an Agile Intrepid Pro that's 28.875". I'm tuning it to D# standard. Tried using the tension calculator and this is what came out

C4# .013" PL == 24.85#
A3 .016" PL == 23.71#
E3 .026" XS == 29.41#
B2 .037" XS == 32.6#
F2# .049" XS == 31.14#
C2# .063" XS == 29.82#
G1# .090" XS == 30.48#
D1# .135" XS == 29.89#
total == 231.89#

If you guys could give me an opinion on that set that'd be great... the main issue though is the .135 D# string. Do I really need a string that thick to give me a tight D#? I use a 0.094 right now and it's pretty floppy. I get the note and it stays in tune, but it's not as tight as i'd like. But I'm pretty sure .135 is too big to fit through my guitar (it has a thru-body layout). Opinions please? :hbang:

you want these strings to be getting slightly tighter as you go up. these numbers are a little random if you ask me

^ Yeah that's freaking nuts tension...Give us some perspective. What is your current guitar tuned to and with what strings do you like it. Scale length?

Forreal, that's psychotic.

My average tension on my 7 is somewhere around 12-15 lbs.

I consider myself as a tension freak, having 23-24 on the winded and 17-18 on the plain strings. Having them all around 28lbs, its insane.

As long as I consider that a neck can take a shitload of tension, this is beginning to be the limit IMO

Hey guys sorry about taking so long to respond. Was on vacation :cool:. I thought the gauges for strings I was looking at were rather large too, but they're circle k strings. It was my first time ordering them and when I tune up with them the tension-gauge ratio seems to be way lighter tension considering what gauge I'm at. I ended up ordering the .12-.59 medium tension 6-string guitar set from circle k, along with a .70 and .106 for my low G# and D#, respectively. I also ordered a .10, .11, and .73 in case I needed more/less tension on strings I wasn't 100% sure of my choice on. Got the set yesterday but haven't put it on yet because I tried tuning up to F standard (all strings had PERFECT tension after doing that) and started recording a couple songs ^____^. Will hopefully have time to put the strings on today. I'll post back later with results. Thanks for the input guys!
