5150 tube concerns

just want some opinions on some good tubes pre amp and power. i play alot of metal so i like a bright thick tone. i currently play a 5150 through a mesa 4x12. i am also aware that 5150s can be modded. also feel free to leave your guys opinions on good gear for deathmetal, blackmetal, numetal, pedels, rack gear etc. \m/

Hit up the folks over on Eurotubes, almost no one has more info on Peavey 5150s and their tubes than Bob Pletka.

I put TAD power tubes in my 6505+ and I put a gold pin jj in V1 to smooth out the tone a little then I put regular jj 12ax7's in the 2 lead channel slots as that is where I do most of my playing and I wasnt very happy. Swapped those 2 out for Mullards and fell in love.

I got most of my info and based my decisions off from eurotubes site, fja mods website as he gives a little more variety of tube choice and description, and off about a billion threads here.

But tube preferance is very subjective so good luck
