6505 + pod x3 live?

Hey i was wondering if it was possible to use the four cable method in the 6505 and get the same tone as when you plug straight into the 6505 with the amp models bypassed. It seems like when i use the four cable method the 6505s preamp tone sounds very thin, are there any specific levels / ouputs on the POD i need to change to get that same push that i get when i plug straight in?

I basically want to use the noise gate and stomp boxes before the preamp and the mod, delay, and reverb after the preamp.

Are there any level adjustments i need to make or is this just not possible?
