8 & 16 ohm operation
Hey everyone I'm new to the board and was wondering if It would be possible to run two amps running at 8 Ohms into a stereo 16 ohm cab with left and right plugs obviously recently i've had a bad brain fade and cant seem to remember if this was possible. Its a Rivera Cabinet if that helps.

Thanks :metal:

Sorry I posted on this board but I didnt ever get any response on the Gear & Tech board. Any help is appreciated.:hbang:

you would need the same variable amps, if they are the same exact amp, then yes

If they both have 16 ohm outputs there shouldn't be a problem.

Actually, a mismatch in that order will usually be just fine.

Speakers are NOT constant impedance (that's part of the definition of impedance actually...), it varies from 4-8 ohms to around 16-32 ohms for most speakers, although a guitar usually won't drive it at the extremes. The given impedance is usually a *nominal* impedance at some frequency, often 1kHz or so.

The image below shows a typical frequency (top) and impedance (bottom) chart for a speaker.
