This should be interesting. You'd better post pics throughout the whole thing! :D

I would recommend against getting the EMG. They sound OK but not great. I'd opt for a Lundgren or Bare Knuckle. Throwing an EMG bass pickup in there is not going to sound as good as you may think.

I already have the EMG 45dc, and I might swap it out later if I get a job.

And for paint I might do a diablo swirl, and leave the neck natural.

Just to let you know that size EMG is too large, you should try a 40DC, since that is same size as a EMG 808, you will not be able to swap the EMG 45DC out for anything other than the other 45 models, and you would also get more output on the highest and lowest string . You can still use the 45DC for a 9 string project though:)

Hm, thanks for the information. But I can't order anything else. I guess I will just have to stick with this one. And the reason I got the 45DC is because all the people on projectguitar who were building the 8 string were using it. And they said it was working just fine for it.

Oh well, too late now. Thanks for all the comments everyone.:yesway:

you can still make it 6 string bass ;)
I already bought all the parts for the 8 string, just waiting for the bridge to get here. Plus I don't play bass :p

And the 45DC isn't too wide for the 8 string. It should do just fine.

Glued the body blank. Tomorrow I will glue the neck blank! And cut the shape out hopefully.

Hm, we were all told that it was alder, well; if it's ash, then YAY! That's what I wanted in the first place, but since I was told we didn't have any, I went with alder. Either way it's good wood to use for the 8.

Thanks for the replies!
