Finally got around to being not lazy and working out this demo of the first 8 string song I wrote for my band. Getting better with the Superior mix and I will be getting Metal Foundry very soon. This is also the first time I started to mess around with cab impulses. Let me know what you think or what I could do to improve the mix thanks!

Anybody? I'm just wondering how some of you guys get your mixes to be so clear sounding? I mean I don't really have anything yet in terms of mastering type plugs or programs so thats understandable. I just really want my kick and snare to be even louder and much fuller sounding and it seems to be tough!

The snare is all good man. A little too poppy, but that's all. Cut some high mids and it should be fine. It could do some reverbing as well.

To be honest, I've never got any good sound out of the avatar kits kick. As soon as you get the MF, you should be ok.

Now the composition is great, although I find the song boring every now and then. It may be because of the lack of vocals. Try to do a riff with maybe some really open wide ranged chords to get peoples attention back. Make something totally different to the other song. Just an opinion. (Hope you appreciate strict critisims...) :)

Guitar tone is massive. Best I've heard in a while in the recording studio forums!

Keep it up.

I raised and adjusted the kick sound a little more and I got it sounding a bit better now. It sounds really good in my car. I am just suprised with how good a program like Superior is that they don't have more variety for kick sounds. I really have to EQ it a lot too to get it sounding good. I appreciate the criticism. I realize the song might be a little boring cause it repeats a lot, but I was trying to leave space to add in the vocals later. It is a slower tempo too, but I think it's got a nice groove to it! I am suprised, cause I bought a Mesa 4x12 impulse from Redwirez and it sounds way better now with the Pod XT. I gotta learn how to bus the drums so I can have the original sounds and then more compressed sounds mixed together. I think that will probably help make them sound even better. I do have reverb on the snare, but maybe not enough.

Krucifiction, you can pick up Metal Foundry for $80 at Guitar Center right now. It is most definitely a deal! Up until like a week or so ago it was $150. If you grab it while they have a sale (like this past weekend) you can usually grab an additional 15% off if you get their internet newsletter.

The Andy Sneap presets sound out of this world from what I've experienced so far. I'm DLing them now. Their $9 off toontrack.com. Your stuff sounds dope, and although the drums sound pretty damn good through your current kit, you'll find you'll be able to get them to sound even better with MF. You'll also be able to DL the extra Midi pack for MF for free once you buy MF that gives you a shit ton of extra presets that sound crazy. A bunch are by Thomas Haake himself. Definitely worth checking out.

So yeah, check it out, keep it up!

I already saw that deal at Musicians Friend! and since its going on till the end of year it's on my X-Mas list! You can actually still get Superior 2.0 through AMS for $149 which is where I got my like a month or so ago! It's freaking awesome, cause I'll have SD2.0 and MF for only like $230 what a steal! Thanks for the comments guys. I'll be sure to check out those presets too I just have to get an external drive and I might also upgrade my RAM. As I'm getting more and more into this recording stuff and using more and more plug-ins.

I'm not going to give away all my secrets lol, but all I am using to record right now is a Line 6 Pod XT and a Redwirez cab impulse. Axe-Fx is totally out of the budget at the moment and I can't really mic up my ENGL or 5150 in my place.

Dang that is a mean sounding guitar. With some good brootal vocals this song will be amazing. The mix itself sounds good. But like kurk said cut the high mids on the snare a bit and add some reverb to it for that "airy" sound. Work on mastering to polish it up and you will be set.

GREAT JOB!!
