Greetings, all!

I've had a PRS SE semi-hollow for about nine years now, and it's sounding like it's at about the end of its life. (Neck issues, would probably cost more to fix than to buy a new guitar and swap the electronics and other parts.)

So, given that I love the warm tone you can get from a semi, or full hollowbody, what guitars would you guys recommend?

Requirements:
Not a full-size hollowbody, like those used by blues or jazz players (Lucille, I'm looking at you.) Strat size would be great. Double cut, as well.
Not a Fender, Gibson, or their sub-brands.
Not a bolt-on neck.
Saddles are adored, not overly fond of tune-o-matic.

Otherwise, free reign. What would you guys recommend?

Imo, Lucille wasnt half as big as a ES-175 (its a 335 body IIRC, which is a semi hollow)
I would honestly shoot for a Gibson ES-335/339 or an Epiphone Casino. They fit almost all your requirements minus the no Gibson/no tune-o-matic. Which, its gonna be mighty hard to find a semi hollow without tune-o-matic in my experience

Why not get a new SE? The new 2017 series has a tasty looking custom 22 hollow if it has to be double cutaway, but personally I have a love for the green Zach Myers sig. If you liked your old SE, I'm sure you'd be happy with the new ones with updated electronics.

I have an EBMM Axis Semi-Hollow, which fails your bolt-on requirement. I don't know what your objection stems from, but it has perfect upper fret access and I'd certainly recommend you play one to see if you like it. It's beautifully made, plays superbly and sounds excellent for everything apart from full on distortion. Light as a feather too. :yesway:

PRS has double cut options in pretty much every line - SE (as you already know), semi-hollow S2 CU22, semi-hollow Core CU22/24, HB1 or HB2s. Can be had at great prices used (relatively speaking).

It's kinda general, my dislike for bolt-ons. I usually dislike it when it hits my hand as I go up the fretboard. So, Jackson, Fender, Squire, Ibanez, so on. I am perfectly fine with the way PRS and Kiesel/Carvin do it, but not enough other brands do it that way.

I get you, though I have four neck-through Jacksons and would say that the upper-fret access is as good, if not better, on the EBMM. Totally different guitar, of course. Much narrower neck, much rounder profile etc. Still, worth a try, if you can get your hands on one. Good luck with the search. :shred:
