Needless to say, Allan is such an inspiration to me and I am looking forward to seeing him tonight in Boston.

No it's not. In fact, and this may be sacrilege, but I enjoy the studio stuff more than the live. Seems like every time I go to see Allan the sound system or room is just awful. It's very frustrating!

The show last night was simply stupendous. Allan played at his usual tremendous level (at close to 70) and Jimmy Haslip and Gary Husband were fantastic too, especially Gary who has such affinity for Allan's music.

Steve Hunt, Allan's old keyboardist was in the audience and digging it too...

They played a wide range of Allan's material including Tony Williams era pieces and a section of Allan's the Un-Merry Go Round which I haven't heard live before even having seen Allan many, many times through the years.

I know it's easy to take Allan's incredible playing for granted after so many years of brilliance but who knows how many more times he will tour like this.

Yay!
