Hey guys, for the past year our band has been working on our first EP project and we just finished and released it. We are a three piece alternative rock group with some electronic elements (not featured on this EP). All of these songs were self recorded and mixed using real drums and guitar amps. Then we went to a fellow studio friend of mine who had better equipment and we "mastered" (If I dare even call it that) the project using isotope ozone and some outboard gear.

Bottom line:
With this being my first big production project I am seeking critique from en engineering standpoint because I want to do better on our next full album project.

You can listen to our EP on our website at: With Every Wind Band

Let me know what you guys think!

Most things on the album actually sound pretty good, but the drums are a big issue. The cymbals are too loud at times and are eating up too much 3k. There is also a lack of lowend across the whole album. The kick isnt very strong either. The drums just sound very flat. Besides that everything else sounds really good.

if you were to fix the drums on the EP it would be super awesome.

You guys exaggerated on the compressors... it's causing a lot of ear fatigue. Let more "air" into the mix by compressing less, both individually and globally.
