i gave it a listen but yeah i wish mikael would go back to the older cleans but this is better than anything in the last 10 years that ive heard from them. I wrote them off a long time ago when they stopped the prog death metal tunes, but i do respect mikael for just doing what he wants to do, even if its not my jam. I wish they kept up with the style of my arms your hearse/blackwater park/deliverance, but i just accept that opeth wont go back there. I did seen them live back in like 2006 and it was sick when they still played a ton of death metal songs.

It wasn’t bad. The growls are on point, no question. The song structure and riffs didn’t do much for me. I will remain cautiously excited that there might be a little more death metal on this record…I want RIFFS! 🤞

This was a solid 6.5/10 for me. It's not the boring progrock of the last 10 years, curious to see how the entire record will turn out.

I don't love the guitar sound however. Sounds like single coils.

Nice reminder that Mikael's growls are still one of the best in death metal imo
They sound gnarly as fuck

I liked the song but I have to agree on the guitar tone, I think a beefier tone closer to Watershed would've done this a lot of good.

Extremely impressed with his growls. Enjoyed of Walt's drumming too.

Anyone else think that if it were a King Diamond song, it'd be a much better suited singing performance?

Sorry Opeth. This album will not make it to my collection.

They're too settled down to do anything as good as what most feel is their best material. It's not boring either.

They just played at Wacken a Community voted Setlist.
And Mikael said on stage the newest song on it is still 10 years old and it makes him a bit sad. ("He might have done nothing good the past 10 years")
