It seems awesome, and affordable, it just looks ugly as hell and im not sure about the pickups.

That's nothing new. There are plenty of 30" 6-string baritone/basses out there & I've owned almost all of them. Depending on the strings you use, you can tune B-B, A-A or go a full octave down E-E.
