This dude has. Not sure if he's on here but it sounds pretty sweet.

EDIT: Sorry haven't got any personal experience of them in a JP myself.

Hey! That's my demo^^ I really dig the Blackhawks in the JP, work super well!

Sweet dude, love your playing!

Sorry OP, totally misunderstood the question. I know a few guys aroudn these parts have tried various BKP's in their JP's. Hopefully they'll chime in soon...

I have a BFR JP7 that I've used with an Aftermath Bridge/Miracle Man Neck, and a set of Painkiller 7s. I absolutely fell in love with the Aftermath in a JP - the mids gave that thing a thickness and thunk like no other combination I've tried yet, although I eventually got rid of the Miracle Man. The Painkiller set was good sounding too, but I just didn't find it as dramatically different as the Aftermath.

As far as covers go, it won't work - I've tried it. It's the squared off corners of the covers that end up preventing it from fitting in the JP route. It's very, very close, but not quite enough.

I should also mention that I recently tried to fit a newer set of BKP Abraxas 7s into my Ran, which has the exact same routing as a JP and came stock with Aftermaths, and they didn't fit. Maybe I got a set that was slightly outside of the tolerance, but the tabs were a bit too long for the cavity - ended up having to shave them off a touch. Just something to keep in mind.

Hope that helps.

I tried a nailbomb 7 in a JP7 (special model with mahog body) and well, nailbombs rule and this combo was no different.
Tight, brutal but with lots of life in them and clean up very well with volume knob.

No, i have that set in my Ibanez. But the Aftermaths are a lot tighter, aggressive and more defined in the mids than the Black Hawks which are more musical with lots of 'purr' but still brutal from my experiences. The Cold Sweat is an absolutely glorious neck pickup, quite happy with it. Very articulate, well defined and smooth, perfect for lead work - cleans are great too!

I had a Nailbomb, a Miracle Man and an Aftermath in the bridge of my basswood JP7. The Nailbomb sounded best of them all - very organic tone with good string separation. Miracle Man sounded like crap to my ears, very scratchy, Dimebag Darrel-ish, and the Aftermath had no life to it and was quite boomy. I ended up putting a Liquifire in the bridge and I've been happy ever since.

I think the reason I did not liked BKP pups in my JP7 is because they are VERY sensitive to height adjustments. They might have been too close to the strings, thanks to the direct mount routing.

And dont get me wrong, I have Nailbombs 7 in an Agile which sounded HUGE, and I currently have Nailbombs in my PRS CU24 and I won't change them for anything.

Definitely using a set of Miraclemans in my JP12 if I ever get tired of the CL/LF combo which probably won't be ANYTIME soon.

JP's won't react any differently to BKPs than any other guitar would, just make sure you know what woods the model you're getting is going to be equipped with before ordering the BKP set. BFR's have Alder, the JPX is Chambered Alder, the JPXI is nonchambered Alder, the JP12 is Basswood, and the JP13 is also Basswood. All of the models I've mentioned so far have those main woods and Mahogany Toneblocks/Necks, and Maple Tops.

The Standard JP's are just straight up Basswood. Let us know which JP you're looking into and what kind of sound you're looking for, then we can probably make a more accurate list of BKP's you'd probably like.

All the JPs I owned had BKPs at one point and everytime it was worth it, they shine and destroy on them!
