Gday, Allan from Searls guitars here.
I've been working on the concept of a guitar that is just meant to be played as opposed to the full customs I usually build. Nothing "pretty" or "glossy" about it. Just a nice, simple guitar that is back to basics and gets the job done. I know this isn't an original idea, but it's the first time I've offered it and my first attempt at a set model. It will also shorten the build turn around making it much, much faster than a full custom.
After discussions with my customers and some input from followers of my facebook page, it was agreed that quality hardware was a must and should not be compromised, that neckthru construction at a low price was desired. I came to the conclusion I needed two models. These are to be called the Workhorse and the Warhorse.
I have been able to get the price down $700.00 less than the starting price of my custom builds, which requires a lot of set specs without making too much compromise.
Both guitars will be seven string superstrats (SS7) with an oil finish.
African Mahogany neckthru
African Mahogany body wings
Rosewood fingerboard (may be changed upon discussion)
Kahler bridge (tremolo that can lock into a fixed bridge, covers both trem and hardtail fans retaining the features of a lock nut and fine tuning)
Bareknuckle pickups.
16" radius
25.5" scale default, some variations up to 27" are available.
Logo burned into the headstock with a branding iron
Both models will be handmade. No CNC.
Warhorse: AU$1799.00
Single pickup model (BKP soapbar Warpig is default)
Choice of killswitch or volume. No other electronics and a simplified electronics cavity.
Workhorse AU$1999.00
Dual humbucker model (BKP soapbar Painkiller is default)
Three way switch, volume and tone.
Here is the first proto of the Warhorse (as a six string - pic in unfinished state) THIS ONE IS SOLD.
I started a small run of these today which have three piece necks (more stable than a one piece) - this lamination will yeild five neck blanks.
Heres the pics of the glue up:
I'm keen to hear opinions and expressions of interest. At this stage available to Australian buyers only. Case not included in price, can provide at additional cost.
