I loaded 26.01 right when it came out, but I don't use the rat that often and didn't notice a difference in other drive models. Jamming on 26.02 for a few minutes and it sounds great, but I haven't played in a few days so might be placebo. Feels a little more defined in the 1-3k range.

jeez, I flashed 26.01 the other day but I haven't even had a chance to try the drive pedal changes.

I installed the current beta on the FM3, and the Metal zone pedal is messed up. Sounds like it is clipping and just jacked. Any of you guys on the Axe 3 having this problem?

I’ve always like fractal, but haven’t touched it since I bought the Red 7 reactive load box. Not trying to start a real amp vs modeler debate because I think both options have their place…. I was always kind of annoyed when Fractal came out with new firmware because it took me hours to load it and redial my presets and I got no real playing or recording done. Real amp into a good load box always feels a bit superior to me, you get that squishy compression feel during palm mutes and Fractal felt stiffer, even though fractal does sound great.

I find updates dont usually require me to change much in my presets. I also dont use very many. Not sure if Im in the minority there..

Excited to try it when I get home, though maybe I'll wait for the full release, I barely have checked out the last couple updates other than to apply them 😂

Yeah, the biggest amount of updating I did was during the first Cygnus when I dropped the PEQ’s and multi-band comps. I’m not sure I’ve even changed IR’s on presets since then, it’s generally just a tweak to the low/high end unless the update pertained to a power amp section and then it’s a small master volume adjustment.

Yeah i never change IRs on my main presets, my tone experiment ones are subject to change. Still cant make a recto sound good

+1. I think I've only altered my presets after an update once - but part of it was coming from a place of wanting to start fresh and build my sound up for what I was using it for instead of targeting a match of my tube amps.

I update my FM3 about once a year. Every firmware sounds great.

I'm absolutely sure each update is 1% better, but I just don't want to spend the time.

I do read the release notes for each update so I know what I'm getting into when I do update.

Recent Firmware 27 beta seems big. I'm on FM3 so don't know first-hand, but people are talking it up.

Also on the rumor mill: some new Fractal device soon-ish?

I've been juggling a bunch of purchases ideas (Amp1 Iriidum, full sized Helix, FM9) so yeah if this is true I guess I'm gonna wait before I do anything lol

Cliff said the new product will not be anything that replaces a current product, and that it does have firmware.

I am guessing a Loadbox/Effects type unit, or maybe an effects only unit.

I’ve only gotten through a couple amps so far with the new update, but it’s pretty damn great. Not sure how many people are going to notice a difference, or a difference they’ll also think is great as I can imagine those who never played through a tube amp aren’t really looking for the artifacts that come along with amps.

Cliff’s pretty much closing that gap on that last “it’s like 95% spot on to a real amp”.

It’s pretty damn cool seeing how the feel of the thing has changed over time. There’s only so much interaction I expect out of studio monitors and it’s pretty damn cool having that expectation exceeded.

I'm not going to do it, but it would be cool to hear the evolution of a riff through several versions of the firmware since the III came out.

The problem is that some of it really is a feel thing, and youtube clips really don't tell the whole story.

Nonetheless, I'm stoked for it to come to the FM3.

I briefly thought of that this weekend when I deleted about 5 year’s worth of beta zip folders. It’d definitely be cool but there’s no way in hell am I going through that work!
